Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, today led the ministerial session of the Kenya–Morocco inaugural Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) in Nairobi. Accompanied by H.E. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco, the two Foreign Ministers presided over the signing of eleven (11) bilateral instruments. Among the bilateral instruments signed include those on Agriculture, Justice, Health, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment, Cultural Cooperation, Higher Education, Scholarships, Internships and the sharing of expertise, Sports, Visa Exemption for Diplomatic and Official Passport holders, and Wildlife, thereby operationalizing collaboration in these priority sectors. At the Ministerial Session of the Inaugural Kenya–Morocco Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) in Nairobi, 9th April 2026, a significant milestone was reached with the signing of 11 bilateral instruments, underscoring a shared commitment to deepening the relations.

Korir SingOei, Principal Secretary, State Department for Foreign Affairs, today officially opened the Senior Officials’ Segment of the Inaugural Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) between the Republic of Kenya and the Kingdom of Morocco in Nairobi. The Session marked a significant milestone in elevating bilateral relations to a structured and strategic partnership anchored on clear priorities and measurable outcomes through negotiations and conclusion of bilateral instruments in various sectors. In his remarks, Dr. SingOei lauded the Kingdom of Morocco for its enduring partnership with Kenya, noting that bilateral relations have steadily expanded across economic, political, and cultural spheres. He underscored that the JCC provides a structured and forward-looking framework to deepen cooperation, enhance policy coordination, and unlock new opportunities for shared growth and development. Amb. Abderrazzak Laassel, Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya, highlighted the strong and enduring ties between Kenya and Morocco, noting that the countries’ longstanding mutual respect and solidarity now have the opportunity to be further strengthened through enhanced institutional cooperation. Amb. Jessica Gakinya, Kenya’s Ambassador to Morocco, highlighted that the JCC will accelerate collaboration in priority areas such as ICT, trade and investment, and air connectivity as well as strengthened coordination within multilateral platforms. Kenya reaffirms its commitment to advancing a robust and mutually beneficial strategic partnership with Morocco.

On 26 February 2026, H.E. Ambassador Jessica Gakinya presented her Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace of Rabat, accrediting her as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kenya to the Kingdom of Morocco.
