It is important that Russia is held accountable for this aggression – legally and in practice. And that Russian war criminals do not enjoy normal life, but face fair sentences. This is necessary. Just as it was necessary after the Second World War. This is what we are doing here in Europe, here in the Netherlands. We are working to launch the Tribunal for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine – and I thank you for your help. We are working to ensure that the international legal system is firm and uncompromising toward Russian war criminals. Please support this. And please remember – all freedoms are fragile without the most basic freedom: freedom from ruins. Without basic security. And when those who start wars feel no accountability. So do not let Russia go unpunished. From my address to the participants of the Four Freedoms Awards ceremony (3/3).

Horrific night Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro bear the heaviest toll: 16 lives lost, 9 in Odesa alone. My condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Over a hundred civilians wounded. Russians deliberately attack residential areas; and when emergency crews respond, they hit again.

‼️Zelenskyy announced the launch of a tribunal for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in the Netherlands while receiving the International Four Freedoms Award. “Why do wars return? Because those who start them believe they will not be punished. That's why it's not enough when history judges only with truth. Not enough when memory alone delivers judgment. There must be law. There must be international law. There must be the international community enforcing it, and we must achieve this. And this is what we are working on, including with the Netherlands. We are working so that no victim of Russian aggression is left without a just response to the aggressor. And this is what we are doing here in Europe. Here in the Netherlands, we are working to launch the tribunal for Russia's aggression against Ukraine, and I thank you for your help. We are working to ensure that the international legal system is firm and uncompromising toward Russian war criminals. Please support this, and please remember, all freedoms are fragile without the most basic freedom, freedom from ruins, without basic security, and when those who start wars feel no accountability. So do not let Russia go unpunished” - Ukrainian President on Thursday, April 16th, 2026.

Easter exchange: another 182 Ukrainians are home! The return of our citizens from Russian captivity to their native free land, to their loved ones, is the most long-awaited and deeply emotional moment – one that all of Ukraine awaits with anticipation. As I said recently, ahead of Easter, on the instruction of the President of Ukraine, the team of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War carried out a planned exchange, as a result of which 175 Ukrainian Defenders and 7 civilians were freed. I congratulate each and every one of them! And also all the families who received the most cherished news before the holiday – the chance to embrace their loved ones after an unbearably long separation. I am glad that among the released servicemembers, the majority are those who have been in captivity since 2022, including the heroic defenders of Mariupol. Also back home are 25 officers, whose release was an extremely difficult task, but the entire Coordination Headquarters team got the job done and delivered results once again. I thank our partners in the United States and the United Arab Emirates for facilitating the Easter exchange! We continue our work to bring all our people home! There will be more good news in the near future. Glory to Ukraine!

Timothy Snyder is a Yale historian who has spent his career studying authoritarianism in Eastern Europe. The framing he's amplifying from emptywheel is precise and documented: this is a transnational effort, funded by Russian oil, to replace Western liberalism with a pro-Russian ideology posing as restoration. The money trail is specific. Hungary's Mathias Corvinus Collegium - Orbán's "pet university" - received a $1.7 billion endowment in 2020: 10 percent stakes in Hungary's largest energy company and largest pharmaceutical company, plus $462 million in cash. That endowment is funded in significant part by Russian oil revenues flowing through state energy contracts. MCC then funds a sprawling network of think tanks, fellowships, publications, and summits pushing the same ideological program across Europe and into the United States. Heritage Foundation signed a "landmark cooperation agreement" with Orbán's Danube Institute. Heritage's president Kevin Roberts has praised Orbán's movement for fighting for "Truth, for tradition, for families." Gladden Pappin - Harvard-trained, Catholic, now running a Hungarian state foreign policy institute - sits in bilateral meetings on the Hungarian side when American officials visit. He was in Vance's study at the Naval Observatory for drinks with Orbán last fall. If Magyar wins Sunday he has pledged to defund MCC, recover its state assets, and end the use of public money to build political networks. That is why Vance flew to Budapest. That is why Trump endorsed Orbán twice by video. That is why the pipeline near Serbia produced two backpacks of explosives a week before the vote. The Sunday election is not about Hungary. It is about whether the money laundering vehicle for this network survives.

For those still behind: Melania's Epstein presser yesterday ("I was not a participant") was almost certainly driven by Amanda Ungaro, an Epstein victim who had a child with Paolo Zampolli, who brought Melania to the US. Zampolli just got Ungaro deported; she's vowing revenge. 1/

I’ll take it a step further. Failing to invoke the 25th amendment at this point, is a violation of their own oaths to this country. It should be seen as nothing short of criminal negligence, and they should be held fully liable for the death and destruction that stems from this.
Chris Murphy 🟧@ChrisMurphyCT

If I were in Trump's Cabinet, I would spend Easter calling constitutional lawyers about the 25th Amendment. This is completely, utterly unhinged. He's already killed thousands. He's going to kill thousands more.

Let’s share some good, positive spring news: March 2026 set a record for the number of targets hit in the entire history of “Magyar’s Birds”! During March, the 414th Separate Brigade carried out 23,773 strike sorties and hit 15,951 enemy targets. It feels especially good to know that among those struck targets, as many as 4,311 were Russian personnel (worms), including 2,197 confirmed KIA (yoblyks). Looks like a proper spring cleaning of our land ahead of Easter 😇 By the way, the arrival of spring has added strength and motivation to all defenders of Ukraine. As President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “Russian losses this March reached the highest level since the beginning of the war: 33,988 Russian troops were killed or seriously wounded by our drone strikes alone, and another 1,363 occupiers were eliminated by artillery and other means. That’s already more than 35,000 Russian losses in a single month, and these are confirmed losses – we have video evidence of every strike in our system.” The President also highlighted the strong contribution of “Magyar’s Birds” 🫡 Share of all verified drone-inflicted personnel losses by Ukraine’s Defense Forces: USF: 30.9% (10,513) Magyar’s Birds: 12.7% (4,311) As they say – we keep working 😎

Russia decimated a WHOLE STREET in Korosten, Ukraine. Gone. Reduced to ruble. Over 120 buildings - including at least 100 residential - damaged or totally destroyed. Russia has erased entire cities off the face of the earth. There is ZERO question of Russian genocidal intent.

Kherson under siege. Russian forces are dropping aerial bombs directly onto residential buildings, and openly publishing the footage as propaganda. Russia has no moral bar, and right now, no accountability. Just the deliberate targeting of civilians, a terror campaign in plain sight, from the air, against peaceful residents 🇺🇦
