Throwback to when eight banks were caught manipulating the silver market. From 2008 to 2016, major banks rigged silver through spoofing and other abusive trading practices. Regulators later caught up with them. Between 2016 and 2025, eight banks were hit with around $1.27 billion in fines, and two JPMorgan traders were sentenced to federal prison in 2023. Now in 2026, JPMorgan is once again facing accusations of silver manipulation. Given its track record, people have every reason to be suspicious.

This was posted after market close at 4:11. SPX Futures immediately spiked then retraced most of the spike into the futures close. One interpretation could be the market is viewing these extensions as giving more time for global economic damage to set in while the strait is effectively closed. Time is becoming an enemy.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Trump said Iran asked for more time. Mediators say that's not true. Trump extended his energy strike pause to April 6th, claiming it was at Tehran's request. Mediators directly involved in the talks say Iran never asked for that and hasn't even delivered a final response to the 15-point plan. So either Trump fabricated the request to justify backing down from another deadline, or there's a back-channel the mediators aren't seeing. Given the pattern of ultimatums followed by walk-backs, the first option feels more likely. The real picture from mediators: Iran is interested in talking but leadership hasn't signed off. Trump is thinking about suspending the federal gas tax. This will just make already exploding budget deficits larger and result in even higher inflation. Plus, the elimination of the tax will encourage greater demand for gas, helping to put even more upward pressure on prices.
