@kamerlinlab @Hold2LLC The 3M Aura has spotty fit capability and doesn’t provide adequate protection for a portion of the public. Unfortunately, the discussion has been almost exclusively about filtration rates. Without a fit test you would be gambling wearing that respirator.

@linseymarr It is wrong to equate KN95’s with N95’s. Extensive testing shows the design doesn’t seal well enough to provide 90% protection. Even validated KN95’s deliver less than 80% protection on average and between 50% to 70% on 30% of wearers.

As mask mandates are lifted, this is an important point to keep in mind: 1 person with N95/KN95/KF94: 90+% protection 1 person with surgical mask: ~50% protection 2 people with surgical mask: ~75% protection And to be fair 2 people with N95/KN95/KF94: 99% protection

@KimShoeCrzy @__sorrry You should skip the KN95’s. Even the ones with validated filters don’t fit the majority well enough to provide 75% or better protection because of the leakage. In many cases they are under 50%. The design doesn’t actually work.

@MimilovesCandL @ETFOpresident Here is a helpful chart on the risk of Covid from the BC government. I assume all teachers are boosted. Unless you are over 60 with 3 or more underlying conditions your risk of hospitalization is very low. Not sure how me thanking teachers who do ECs is so offensive.

@jcl68nyr @denise_dewald Try the Shawmut Protex SR9520 on project n95. It is the most secure fitting and comfortable N95 on the market. Comes in M/L and small sizes.

@maskupmelb @fmasqs @masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth Yes. The fit capability on those masks overall is terrible based on the data we have collected. You would be lucky to achieve 80% protection wearing the typical KN95 regardless how good the filter is. Many people get 50% or less from them.

Just got a sample of the 3M VFlex 9105 #N95 — this mask is truly awesome; I wish our hospital @StanfordHealth had this for healthcare workers!

@fmasqs @masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth One of our cup masks is in wide use amongst the residents in a local independent living facility with an average age in the 80’s. One of the residents tried the mask and showed it to other residents. Now everyone is buying it on line.

@jhenryw @masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth Need to think of different spaces. HCWs caring for covid pts must have >99% fitted filtration efficiency. For general public, FFEs in low-mid 90s is good, much better than surgicals. If they can wear the mask when they would otherwise wear a surgical, overall benefit is huge.

@masknerd @AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth We are in the process of performing an ASTM F3407 fit capability test assessment on the VFlex 1804. Just 35% (7 out 19) panelists passing so far and 16% showed TIL of 10% or more. Bad choice for people who need protection and can’t get fit tested.

@AbraarKaran @StanfordHealth They also make a surgical version, the 1804 and smaller 1804S. What is crazy is these masks were designed 10 years ago....what could we be making now if we let the engineers go wild?

60% Of N95/KN95 Masks Are Fake!

@ianmSC There have never been N95 mandates in Germany. Can you show me evidence of that? I think you must mean KN95 or FFP2 yes?

As many experts move the goalposts from cloth masks to N95’s, it’s important to point out that the states in Germany with N95 mandates are actually doing WORSE and have surged to new record highs No matter what they try, mask mandates just literally never work
