Listen good people, kindly stow the sanctimonious commentary and spare us this rubbish. Every foolish politician has the right to a spectacular moment of nonsense and Kuda has just taken his bow. I don’t see how we are going to be spared such moments of foolishness going forward. It’s not as if he has to exercise a choice. This flows naturally. My only gripe is with a church that continues to offer him the pulpit. For his likes, once you ascend to the political podium, you must disembark from the religious pulpit. There’s no emotional sentinel to guard the divide between the two and we must not pretend that this comes as news.

Those who rigged Chamisa in 2018, engineered a sham “election” in 2023, enabled the recall of his MPs and gleefully crushed dissent have no right to tell him to fight much less dictating how to fight. I obviously want Chamisa to do more as do many other people, but the idea that these disgruntled ZANU PF operatives can tell him what to do is utterly distasteful and revolting, especially when it’s all built on lies. Chamisa is not your pawn — you will not use him. Period.

If I were Thomas Tuchel, I would never call up Arsenal players who faked injuries to withdraw from the national team. Noni Madueke was the only player who was genuinely injured, while players like Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka clearly faked injuries. The same goes for Martín Zubimendi and Piero Hincapié. Players seem more loyal to their clubs than to their countries.

IN BULAWAYO, opposition parties, Churches, & NGOs have UNANIMOUSLY agreed to FULLY SUPPORT the Zimbabwe Constitution Amendment (No. 3) Bill. President @edmnangagwa delivered a STABLE CURRENCY, LOW INFLATION, A GROWING ECONOMY, BIG INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS & a healthy political environment. “We will not be pushed to oppose this Bill just because there are people who are unhappy with ONE ASPECT of the Bill. There are great things in this Bill & it will be good for the Matabeleland region.” @mawarirej, the people are happy and the people are UNITED!

The ZRP has taken note of a disturbing viral video involving a child abuse incident circulating on social media platforms in which a woman is clearly seen assaulting a minor and forcing the child to touch a blazing gas stove. The ZRP is appealing for information which may assist in the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect captured in the video. Meanwhile, the relatives or guardians of the minor are urged to come forward and report the matter at any nearest police station to facilitate investigations. The ZRP assures the public that once the suspect is arrested, she will face the full wrath of the law, including charges of attempted murder.

It’s UNCONSTITUTIONAL to do a Referendum when the Constitution doesn’t demand it… Referendums are not done as a show of support, they are done because the Law demands that they must done. We can’t waste money on something not required by law…
Rutendo Matinyarare@matinyarare

ZANU PF has a 2/3rds majority of the electorate and as you say the grassroots support the constitutional amendment. So why not just undertake a referendum to give the policy shift efficacy, solidify the legitimacy of the extension and to take the nation along so that no one is left behind?

@KMutisi Crap the holistic approach in interpreting statutes demands that terms used be given their day to day meaning unless that introduces ambiguities Our constitution is tacit and unambiguous in its definition of both term length and term limit and allows no room for misinterpreration

This gentleman did it better than most of us… He clearly EXPLAINED the issue of TERM LENGTHS & TERM LIMITS in a simple but BRILLIANT MANNER. For the benefit of those who do not understand Shona, let me try to Anglicise his explanation. x.com/chidawaTee/sta… He said: The law when being interpreted rests on what the LEGISLATURE (or framers of the Constitution) had in mind when they wrote the law. In the case of Zimbabwe, there is a clear distinction between term limits and term lengths. For instance, a person who serves 3 years as President, & get recalled by his party will be deemed to have served a FULL TERM. If he comes back again with a new party & serve 4 years before being recalled, the law will say he has served 2 TERMS and is no longer eligible to serve as president again. This means the person only served a total of 7 years but the law says he served 2 terms. Yet, the same constitution, also allows someone who was president for a year or 2 to serve another 2 five year terms because the 2 years won’t count as a term. In this instance, the person will serve for a total of 12 years but the law will regard it as 2 terms. What this implies the limit imposed by the constitution were not defined in terms RIGIDLY as the number of years but the number of terms which are 2. Changing this requires a referendum. However, changing the length of the term from 5 years to 4 years or from 5 to 7 years doesn’t require a referendum. The number of years (term length) is very different from the number of terms (term limits). Another analogy: A truck owner says to his drivers: Per day, you can only do trips & go home. No one is allowed to do more than 2 trips. As much as the trips are defined in terms of distance from one point to another, a driver going a shorter distance will be deemed to have done the two trips just like the driver who went to a far away place. In this case, the limit imposed by the Truck Owner is THE NUMBER OF TRIPS, not the overall distance travelled. *************** These analogies clearly capture what Zimbabweans are facing now. The framers of the Constitution LEFT ROOM for changing the term length, but they RIGIDLY SET the “number of terms at 2.” You may not like that, but that’s the reality. And as such, there is no legal requirement for a referendum in this case.

@matinyarare @joebreaker101 The term of office of an elected President runs concurrently with that of Parliament and is restricted to a continuous length of 5 years per term. That is the uncontroverted meaning of the text

@matinyarare @joebreaker101 Could it be because you both do not understand the meaning of this wording literally intetionally orotherwise "except as otherwise provided in this Constitution, their terms of office are five years and coterminous with the life of Parliament." Let me try and break it down

Firstly section 98 is not the one dealing with term limits as Tafadzwa says. Secondly, the Constitution in section 95(2)(b) is explicit about length of the term. It says that in this constitution “A TERM” shall be 5 years and (not or) coterminous with that of parliament. This implies a limitation of Parliamentary term to the same as President and Vice. Note that they use the word “a TERM” not a LENGTH, meaning five years is a TERM and thus a limit. This means as section 328 says, to change this length or number of terms is to change the TERM and both require a referendum. So this constitution has a limit of the distance the driver can drive and the number of trips he can make (in a TERM), and any extension of either requires authority from the authoriser.

Charlton Hwende 1st contested to be a member of parliament for Chegutu in 2013. As MDC T candidate, he lost to Dexter Nduna of Zanu PF who got 57% of the votes. When Chamisa became the presidential candidate in 2018, Hwende with the endorsement of Chamisa ran for Kuwadzana member of parliament and won. Previously, Chamisa had been the MP for Kuwadzana. Of interest is that the contest to become the representative for MDC Alliance in Kuwadzana was controversial as Shakespeare Mukoyi, the leader of MDC-T’s vanguard, was also interested in the Kuwadzana seat in the primaries. Although Mukoyi was the preferred candidate, he later pulled out after Chamisa endorsed Hwende. Today, Hwende is bashing the same man who offered Kuwadzana parliamentary seat to him on a silver platter. Such is life.

I would like to express much displeasure with Airlink services after my recent ordeal on a trip to Maputo. The crew on flight 4Z276 was very arrogant and failed to assist me with a bag with valuables that had been stowed at the back despite my pleas that I had to rush for a business meeting with it. Up to now I don't have that bag and no one has reached out to assist or anything. Airlink has been providing fantastic services before but this recent experience is something else. Can the responsible authorities reach out to me on these contacts; WhatsApp+263 73 230 0148, Calls- 0786904075 or email me on mliswat@yahoo.com @AirLink @Fly_Airlink @Airlinkcommltd @AirlinkFlight

ZANU PF understands the game of POLITICS, it’s all about getting BUY-IN from key stakeholders. After the Gazetting of the Constitution Amendment Bill no. 3, ZANU PF top leaders are out in FULL force explaining the significance of the Amendments to party cadres throughout the country. Today, Comrade Machacha led the discussions attended by PCC Members from all over the country. Some attended virtually, while others were at the ZANU PF HQ in Harare. President @edmnangagwa believes in this approach, nothing else…. This will also empower ZANU PF members to contribute effectively during the public consultations.
