Last Friday, 23rd January, we celebrated an illustrious community member, Ms. Tecla Mapfumo, Founder of Weavana Centre for her outstanding dedication and contribution to the survival and well-being of children living with Cerebral Palsy. As a new mother, Tecla’s baby was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, a neurological disorder that causes motor disability in children, which is an extremely challenging condition to any family. In an era with limited information, and too few people to help, Tecla had to quit her full time job to take care of her child while relying on her baking skills to supplement her husband’s income. Along the way, she developed the courage to talk about her child’s condition and seek out families with similar challenges and mostly, she got single women as most fathers abandon the affected children. Like Tecla, most mothers are forced to abandon their jobs and look after their vulnerable children and graciously, Tecla has equipped them with her skills, particularly baking and soap making. In addition, her awareness efforts have attracted a few partners who provided special mobile chairs for the children however, a lot more support is needed. As he handed over the Vocational Award appreciating Ms. Tecla Mapfumo, PDG Ken Mugisha said; “As a mother, you committed your time, shared resources, abandoned your professional career, to bring together those children who go through a lot of suffering to make sure that you can create impact their lives. Rotary is happy to celebrate you for using your vocational service to build a positive impact on this world.” #vocationalservicemonth #RotaryEyamba #ServiceAboveSelf

Membership is at the core of Rotary, and @rotaryd9213 is off to a strong start this year 2026. We are celebrating the charters of two new clubs: The 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐚, a corporate club, and 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐞, a community-based club. In my language, having twins means you become a Salongo. Today, our District is a Salongo, with more people ready to serve, more leaders, and the promise of even greater impact. #RotaryEyamba

The Day Rotary brought healing and hope to Butoolo 🌱👶🏾🩺 On 25th October the Butoolo community in Mpigi District benefited from a vibrant medical camp with general and specialized services. 288 residents received care in: General medicine, Dental, Ophthalmology, Reproductive health, Orthopaedics & Immunizations including Polio. Rac Cavendish University provided legal aid ⚖️ and the Mission Green initiative had 200 fruit trees (Jackfruit, Avocado, Mango, Guava) planted 🌳. The highlight was the handover of a Neonatal Unit which will preserve newborns with respiratory distress & improve maternal & child health. This life-saving donation was supported by 6 Rotary Clubs in D5110 (Oregon, USA): #RCGreaterBend #RCRedmond #RCMedford #RCEugeneDelta #RCEugeneSouthtowne #RC Springfield 🇺🇸🤝🇺🇬 Appreciation to our partners #MayFairInsurance #Plascon #Roofings #Code Clinic #SevPharmaceuticals #ReproductiveHealthUganda #RotaryEyamba

🌟 Supporting Little Warriors at Mulago 🌟 Today, the Rotary Club of Kampala Metropolitan came together for our third annual visit to the brave children at Mulago Children's Cancer Ward, as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. 💛 Witnessing the struggles of these innocent children truly tugs at the heart. Our generous contributions of food and essential items aimed to lighten their burdens and show them they are not alone in this fight. "These contributions, however big or small, go a long way in making a difference," shared the InCharge at the Cancer Ward. As we handed over items, the smiles and gratitude of the parents and caregivers reminded us of the impact we can make together. Let’s keep shining light, spreading hope, and standing with these little warriors! 💪🤝 #RotaryEyamba #ChildhoodCancerAwareness #Hope #MulagoKids

The thing about oldies music is that it isn’t just sound. It’s a time machine. It’s the scent of a first love, the echo of a forgotten laugh, the quiet confidence of a younger you. It's not just a song; it’s a feeling. A memory that wraps around you like a warm embrace. This is why we’re doing it again. The Rotary Club of Kampala Metropolitan is bringing back that feeling with "The Metro Oldies" fundraiser. This isn’t just a party; it’s a portal. A night where we put on our dancing shoes, rewind the clock, and let the good times roll, all for a cause that’s bigger than the beat. We saw it last year. The highlight reel tells the story better than any words can. The smiles, the moves, the pure, unadulterated joy. It's a testament to the magic that happens when good people gather for a good reason. Come, let the music take you. And in the process, help us make a difference. Let’s dance for a cause this Saturday 6th September starting at 4pm @KampalaMetro @MetroOldies
