@Madelaine_Burke That’s all good and well, but what will happen at the courts? Do people really think they will be remanded in custody and jailed? They will be released and the tax payer will be funding them for the rest of their lives. Meanwhile your average Aussie can barely afford to live

A Canadian National has been stabbed while walking through Carlton Gardens in what police believe was a random, unprovoked attack. The 24-year-old was stabbed in the hand by an unknown man while he was walking along a footpath near Carlton Street around 11.30pm last night. Police say the offender, who was wearing dark baggy clothing and a hood, left the knife at the scene and fled on foot. The Canadian man taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Australian Front page This story comes as 2 of the 3 child protection staff that were stood down were reinstated yesterday A baby was flown to the Royal Darwin Hospital with its mother from a community in the Gulf of Carpentaria in the last several days following reports of “suspicious” head injuries, heaping further pressure on the department for transparency over its child protection procedures. A six-week-old baby has been flown to a Darwin hospital with “suspicious” head injuries after being allowed to remain with its family despite separate concerns being made about the child’s welfare in a remote Aboriginal community. Prior to being taken to Darwin, a notification of a suspected sexual assault was made about the now six-week-old to the Department of Children and Families by NT Health staff – however, the department took no action and allowed the child to remain with the family.

The last time Australians tried to help Aboriginal children, they were blamed for a 'stolen generation'. And now we have an activist industry built around ensuring the problem exists forever. Either leaders admit there we no such thing as a 'stolen generation' and allow people to actually save these kids by removing them from the violence and tribal life that ensures they have no future - or cut the entire activist/welfare system and leave the communities alone. We can't continue pouring tens of billions of dollars into this every year with no meaningful change.

@Busybee32433175 @actionforalice It doesn’t matter what “colour” of people they are. No child should grow up in conditions like that. Seems like you love to seperate peope by race. You are part of the problem

Kumanjayi Little Baby was subject of six child protection reports in six weeks before alleged murder The five-year-old girl allegedly murdered in Alice Springs was the subject of six child protection reports since mid-March and was living in a “dangerous environment”, sources familiar with the case have told The Australian. Police made the last notification to the Northern Territory’s Department of Children and Families – the government department responsible for child protection – two days before she went missing in Alice Springs on April 25. The report was in relation to an alleged assault on the mother at the Old Timers town camp on April 22. Jefferson Lewis has been charged and appeared in court, accused of abducting Kumanjayi Little Baby, as she is now known, from her bed in the late hours of Anzac Day and murdering her. She was reported missing at 1.35am in a frantic call to emergency services. Her body was found five days later. More than a dozen child-protection reports have been made about Kumanjayi Little Baby since infancy but no investigation had been launched as a result of the six most recent reports. Police are privately outraged at the inaction from the department in relation to the most recent escalation in reports. Full story with all the details: l.taus.au/LCr |

@Busybee32433175 @actionforalice Look at where this little girl was living and the complete squalor she was forced to live in. No child should have to live like that. If they were white families, the child would have already been taken away. The parents should be ashamed of themselves.

@actionforalice Why? Because her mother had an abusive partner? 30% of white families have this same problem but you aren't advocating for their children to be taken away. Racist pos
