@mysteriouskat I dont think this is feasible. However, the best part of this idea is that it would focus debate into one forum where the people who have actual facts will "beat" the conspiracy theorists who do their research on Google. That forum would be useful to society.

Before someone is allowed to post on social media, they should be able to pass a test on their ability to discern what is true and what is false. If they fail, they have to take a course on source evaluation & misleading framing.

@Shadow__Pro @BriannaWu Don't you think making deals with other lawmakers to vote a certain way so that you can be sure your legislation, which benefits your constituents, pass is doing exactly what's in the best interest of those constituents? Without deals everyone would just vote no to everything.

@jimwillows @BriannaWu Sure, and yet the incentives don't line up for divergence, doing so comes at great expense. I'd prefer if reps are solo and answer only to their constituents, not a given party line. Moreover, it changes what a winning platform looks like district to district.

The fatal flaw of Republicans is inherent selfishness until things affect them personally. The fatal flaw of Democrats is we are so invested in equality we have a blind spot to things that can hurt us. Like radical Islam, or gender ideology threatening the civil liberties of actual transsexuals. I will proudly vote for Democrats, but it’s clear to me we need each other to have a functioning society.

I agree that Trump’s send off to Mueller was crass and unnecessary. But I defy you to think of the worst person in your life and say something good when they die. A husband who hurt you. An ex that lied about you. A business partner that ruined you. A fender-bender that tried to sue you into oblivion. It’s easy to say “you shouldn’t” when you’ve never been. Imagine you worked your way to the highest position on Earth and then a man knowing it was all BS spent 12 months summoning you and everyone you know before prosecution trying to create a truth that’s all lies. So yeah, putting myself in his shoes, I’d find grace a little hard to pin point.

@Shadow__Pro @BriannaWu Theres no set rule now for all Dems or all Repubs to vote the same way, except for the alliances and coalitions within each party. In theory any lawmaker could change their entire party's mind by making the best argument in support of their ideals.

@jimwillows @BriannaWu There is no set rule that the same reps converge on every single issue and it would make things more honest in the sense they would deal based on the interest of the district vs a given party platform. I am not saying it is perfect or may even work, but what we have now sucks.

@Shadow__Pro @BriannaWu Think that thru a bit more. We abolish all parties so then individual lawmakers start forming coalitions w each other. Then those coalitions form alliances with other coalitions. Rise and repeat and within 5 years we are right back to having 2 parties.

Just saw this and was about to post something amusingly ironic along the lines of : I'm sure Trump will be magnanimous in his response to a former foe. Then I saw his response and even my jaw hit the floor. Bush: "He helped prevent another terrorist attack on US soil." Obama: "One of the finest directors in the history of the FBI" Trump: "I'm glad he's dead." The current President of The United States is not a normal human being.
