@art_stapleton Carl Bank’s criticism is internal criticism. It’s kinda like how Art’s opinions are just the voice of Joe Schoen.

I truly believe Giants did themselves a disservice last year by trying to distance themselves from what Carl Banks said about Dexter Lawrence. There was no criticism internally of his play when everyone could see he was not the same and why. They all knew it. That neutered the criticism from outside.

@art_stapleton It the same thing that happens whenever bad organizations bring in big time names, “franchise saviors”, to change the trajectory of the team. Tons of stories about how things are going to change, but the rot in those orgs runs so deep that it’s the saviors that get changed.

Harbaugh. Schoen. Aponte. Not one. Not two. All three. Together, they made the call. What it also tells me is that some of the criticism of Dexter last season was not refuted internally. If he’s back at his best, Bengals got an elite game changer. NYG have work to do on DL, but had to do it

It's Dexter Lawrence for the 10th overall pick straight up, per source. The Giants tried to get something done with Lawrence. Didn't happen. Couldn't turn this trade down with the Bengals.

As noted here, Dexter Lawrence signed $90M extension in May 2023 that kicked in for the 2024 season. I’ve seen NYG accused of dragging heels on Dex. When should they have ripped it up? 2024 offseason when it didn’t kick in yet? 2025 offseason when he was recovering from elbow injury? Now off last year? @DDuggan21 @DaWeenz This is one of the major issues with Giants ownership. They just don’t have the net worth of most of the other owners, bottom 7 in the league. Couple that the fact that haven’t been able to identify quality coaches or GMs in the John Mara era, recipe for disaster.
