Today at IPRC Kicukiro, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame attended the men’s singles final of the ATP Rwanda 100 Challenger, which saw Argentina’s Marco Trungelliti defeat Italy’s Marco Cecchinato, during the third edition of the tournament to take place in Rwanda. The week-long ATP Challenger 100 follows the just concluded ATP Challenger 75, which ran from 2-8 March, with both tournaments featuring 66 players from 20 different countries. #RwandaChallenger

These people can’t even confront the pedophiles within their own government or hold accountable those who have bombed civilians in different countries, overthrown governments, and installed extremists whenever it suited their interests..,Take the case of Syria’s current leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa. There was once a $10 million bounty on his head, yet today he suddenly becomes acceptable when it aligns with Western interests. That hypocrisy says everything. Look at what’s happening in Gaza Strip.,the entire communities destroyed and people suffering. In the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo,civilians are being killed in horrific ways. Yet somehow the narrative is twisted so that Rwanda becomes the villain for speaking up and calling for attention to the crisis. The hypocrisy is staggering. Instead of addressing the real issues, these institutions choose convenient targets while ignoring the bigger picture..,At the end of the day, it often comes down to one thing: powerful actors protecting access to minerals and resources that fuel their industries and geopolitical ambitions. Have some shame!

The sustainability of Rwanda's bilateral counter-terrorism deployment in Mozambique, if our forces are actually needed, depends on adequate, predictable funding. This is what the European Peace Facility partly funds, and so far around €20m has been disbursed. The full cost to @RwandaGov is at least 10 times more, in addition to the ultimate sacrifice of loss of soldiers’ lives, all to stabilize Cabo Delgado. Rwandan Forces went to Cabo Delgado in 2021 at the request of the Mozambican government, to work with a brotherly African country that needed the support, money was not the first consideration. The results of this deployment are evident: civilians have returned to their homes, children are back in school, businesses reopened, mega foreign investments are secured. To be clear, the work of RDF in countering terrorism in Cabo Delgado has benefitted the Mozambican people and the companies investing in LNG, and supporting that work is not a favor being granted to Rwanda. Should the RDF Command assess that the work being done by Rwandan Security Forces in Cabo Delgado is not appreciated, they would be right to urge the government to end this bilateral counter-terrorism arrangement and pull out. @mattstephenhill
