And you fed the flames yourself by amplifying outright lies about the war in Gaza, that Israel was manufacturing famine, or was deliberately targeting civilians, all of which is now shown to have been fabricated (Gaza is the most surveilled place on Earth, every single Gazan has a smartphone, and yet not a single genuine image of a starving person, Jewish hostages aside, has emerged nor video of the IDF deliberately targeting civilians, ‘as they queued for aid’, which was your allegation in the summer). None of it happened. There was just a miserable, horrifying urban war akin to the one waged by coalition forces rooting ISIS out of Raqqa and Mosul a few years ago. And yet, as is always the case when Jews are involved, social media-addled, gullible people everywhere believed the lies and some are now taking it out on Jews around the world. I admire you hugely and I value our friendship, but on Israel and the Jews you’ve got it often very wrong in the last two years. And as the hellscape of pogroms in Europe looms larger by the day (Left-wing and Islamo-fascist mobs were out hunting for Jews celebrating Hanukkah in Amsterdam just yesterday) it’s worth bearing in mind that the Jews have always been the canary in the coalmine. Jew hate has been a harbinger of dark times in every society in which it has reared its head. Paris has cancelled its iconic New Year celebrations on the Champs Elysees for the first time this year because police have warned they can’t keep revellers safe. Christmas markets Europe-wide are now ringed with concrete barriers and armed police. What starts with the Jews never ends with just the Jews. Antisemitism is your issue too, even if you’re not Jewish.
