You can see China's Five-Year Plans as giant AI prompts. They're not hard and fast rules dictating how each official or company must operate. They're a set of priorities and goals that Chinese policymakers want the nation to work towards. The problem is the mechanism for transmission is indirect and goes through many layers. The final output often deviates from the intended goals laid out in official plans, sometimes quite dramatically, and then you get a never-ending series of modifications or "re-prompting" through subsequent plans and speeches. I included a short appendix at the end of this piece trying to explain how China's Five-Year Plans work and how they've changed over time: highcapacity.org/p/chinas-tech-…

Richard Feynman was a brilliant scientist and an even better teacher. He worked at California Institute of Technology and helped explain the strange world of quantum physics using simple drawings called Feynman diagrams, which earned him a Nobel Prize. What made him special was how easily he explained difficult ideas. He believed in truly understanding things by asking himself simple questions like, “Do I really understand this?” He could turn complex science into everyday language. For example, he explained fire as atoms (like oxygen and carbon) coming together faster when heated, creating a chain reaction that spreads energy—what we see as flames. Feynman made learning fun, clear, and exciting. He showed that anyone can understand science if it’s explained the right way.

Maryam Mirzakhani was one of the most influential scientists of the 21st century. She made history by becoming the first woman to win the Fields Medal, often called the “Nobel Prize of Mathematics.” After completing her undergraduate studies in Tehran, she went on to earn her PhD in mathematics from Harvard University. She later became a professor at Stanford University, where she continued her groundbreaking research. In 2014, she was awarded the Fields Medal for her innovative work on the geometry and dynamics of Riemann surfaces. Her research has played an important role in modern fields like string theory, helping scientists better understand the fundamental structure of the universe. Maryam Mirzakhani’s birthday is celebrated as the International Day of Women in Mathematics, honoring her legacy and inspiring women around the world. Sadly, this brilliant mind passed away at the age of 40. To honor her contributions, her name has been given to a planet and even a satellite sent into space. Her life remains a powerful example of curiosity, dedication, and the beauty of mathematics.
