@rishabhmjain @kamilrextin The 1 new customer for every existing customer per year is a tall order... BUT maybe in aggregate. i.e. 5 customers = 5 referrals per year. Most of the time with referrals you get a customer that is a "connector" of sorts and ones that don't recommend/refer at all.

The other day I asked for feedback on a 7/30-day marketing challenge I wanted to build. But a lot of people told me they want to be able to move at their own pace. So I’m considering creating a platform that lets people choose and complete exercises. I’m using Lovable to quickly create a prototype and get some feedback. The idea would be that the more exercises you do the better your marketing will be. I think new founders might find it very helpful. It might be a pay-once access-all type of project. I don’t think I can trust vibe coding for something that involves payments yet but I’m open to being proven wrong.

As a GPT wrapper, we don't actually do anything, but our quality improves thanks to better AI models. We don't take action to reduce costs, yet our profit margin continues to increase. We simply focus on creating a good wrapper so others can make fun of us 😎

DeepSeek just proved the 'worthless' GPT wrapper startups are actually the ones with real moats. A week ago, nothing was more LOW status than being a 'GPT wrapper' startup. But I think we're learning that's DEAD wrong. Turns out they were just early to the only game that matters While DeepSeek, Meta, Anthropic and Microsoft battle over benchmark scores, these 'wrapper' companies have been quietly building the only moat that matters: interface loyalty. Because of how big owning the LLM is for national defense and the economy, the next breakthrough model is always 2 weeks away. DeepSeek launches today, someone else drops a better one tomorrow. But getting millions of people to make your product part of their daily workflow - that's the real barrier to entry. ChatGPT didn't win because it had the best model. It won because it was dead simple to use. And I think it has staying power because of that. This is why all those AI startups we dismissed are actually positioned to win. They're not competing on model performance - they're competing on being the default way humans interact with AI. Frontier models are becoming commodities. User habits aren't. While everyone obsesses over the next architecture breakthrough, the real game is being played in the interface layer. The moat isn't in the model - it's in being the tool people reach for without thinking. Technology advantage is temporary. Interface lock-in is forever. Keep shipping those wrappers, my friends.

Bootstrapping a business is an endless journey. When I was at $0, all I wanted was that first paying customer. Once I got my first, I aimed for 10. Then, I set my sights on $10k ARR, $100k ARR, and even $1M ARR. Now, one of my businesses has surpassed $1M. I stopped only dreaming of $10M. Instead, I looked back a few years to see how far I've come. Cherishing what I've already achieved is such a blessing!

So, I was having this debate with colleagues about the most profitable type of website to start. Naturally, everyone had strong opinions. One guy swore by e-commerce, another pitched affiliate sites, and someone else passionately argued for blogs. Meanwhile, I sat there thinking, “Can’t we just build something that makes money and doesn’t kill us with stress?” Here’s what we sort of landed on as being the most profitable website types (not in order): 1. E-commerce – Still great for selling products, but very competitive. 2. Affiliate Sites – Earning commissions with reviews is still viable despite Google changes. 3. Blogs – Ad revenue + sponsored posts; niches like tech, finance, or hobbies do well. 4. SaaS – Recurring revenue from tools; requires more upfront effort, but earning potential is unmatched. 5. Online Courses – Find a way to turn your expertise into income via memberships or sales. 6. Utility Sites – Think calculators or converters; tools like this actually have solid passive income potential. Bottom line: Pick something you enjoy, focus on value, and stick with it!

Google giveth and Google taketh away.... Finally got to number 1 for a great search engine rank a few days ago... Today they add AI overviews to the search result, pushing us back down and not listing us first in the overview 🫠
