@mcuban In 1986, Oregon became a vote by mail ONLY state. We have NEVER had a republican governor since. 1859-1987 (10) Democrats (1) Democrat/Populist (1) Independent (20) Republicans 1987-Current (7) Democrats Now, you tell me why that is. 😞

Cash for Clunkers destroyed 690,000 functional vehicles in 2009, creating an artificial scarcity that rippled through used car markets for over a decade. The Obama administration sold this $3 billion program as environmental salvation and economic stimulus, but any free market economist could predict the real outcome: massive wealth destruction disguised as progress. The program forced dealers to pour sodium silicate into engines, permanently destroying cars that poor families could have afforded. Politicians eliminated the bottom tier of the used car market overnight. Suddenly, a reliable $3,000 Honda Civic became a $7,000 Honda Civic (if you could find one). The supposed beneficiaries — working-class Americans who needed affordable transportation — got priced out entirely. Government intervention always creates unseen victims, and Cash for Clunkers delivered them by the millions. Single mothers, college students, and minimum-wage workers watched their mobility options vanish as used car prices soared 30% between 2009 and 2014. The environmental gains proved negligible too: most clunkers averaged 15-17 MPG while replacements hit 24-25 MPG. Destroying half a million cars to improve average fuel economy by 8 MPG represents the kind of central planning that would give Soviet bureaucrats a hard-on. The wealth destruction extended beyond sticker prices. Higher transportation costs forced people into longer payment terms, creating a debt cycle that persists today. Cash for Clunkers normalized 84-month auto loans, turning cars from depreciating assets into multi-year financial anchors. Bureaucrats congratulated themselves for moving inventory off dealer lots while condemning an entire generation to transportation poverty.

A multi-part series on the imminent fall of Portland, due to crumbling real estate, Byzantine laws, usurious penalties and a government hiding the darkest secret Portland holds. Series continues in the comments. Posted on the Corrupted Governor Tina Kotek FB page by Mark Rogers. 1/ "THIS IS THE MAP THAT WILL DESTROY PORTLAND. -By SEP Asset Stabilization LLC EDIT: BELOW IS THE LIVE LINK google.com/maps/d/edit... This is our first part expose concerning the antitrust of Portland City and Multnomah county. This represents 8 billion of POTENTIAL AND IMMINENT LOSS to the city and county. Every blue dot is a brick building that can't be insured(without paying 3 to 10 time premium). Can't be financed or refinanced. Can't be sold at fair market value(10 cents on the dollar seems to be the going rate). And in many cases — can't even be auctioned. There are 1,369 of them. They are scattered across every neighborhood you care about — Parkrose, Old Town, Sandy Boulevard, Division, Alberta, Mississippi, St. Johns, Central Eastside, Montavilla, Lents. The restaurants you eat at. The apartments your neighbors live in. The small businesses that anchor your block. All unreinforced masonry. All under a mandatory seismic retrofit order from the City of Portland. Almost none of them have a funded path to compliance. Retrofit costs run $800,000 to $8,000,000 per building. The buildings are often worth less than the cost of fixing them. No conventional lender will finance a loan where construction cost exceeds collateral value. So the owners are trapped. They can't fix the building. They can't sell the building. They can't insure the building. And when they fall behind on property taxes — because of course they do — Multnomah County forecloses. And here's where it gets ugly. THE COUNTY ISN'T AUCTIONING THESE BUILDINGS. Oregon law requires it. ORS Chapter 275 lays out the foreclosure auction process. The county is supposed to auction tax-foreclosed properties and recover what it can. But what happens when you auction a building that nobody can insure, nobody can finance, and nobody knows how to retrofit? Nobody bids. And if nobody bids, the county is stuck holding a building it can't maintain, can't sell, and can't put back on the tax rolls. The assessed value collapses. The tax revenue disappears. The building rots. The county spent more administering the foreclosure than it will ever recover. So they stopped auctioning them. The county's own budget documents show foreclosure auction revenue collapsing year over year. Their Tax Title program page confirms the last public sale was May 2024. The next one? "Anticipated Spring 2026." We're in Spring 2026 right now. No properties have been posted. No auction has been announced. And the last time they did sell, it was bare land — strips and small parcels sold to adjacent property owners. Not buildings. Not the 1,369 buildings on this map. They are hiding the problem. Instead of auctioning buildings that nobody will buy, the county quietly absorbs the loss. Your tax dollars subsidize the gap between what these buildings owe and what the county can't recover. The county just settled a $3.5 million class action lawsuit for keeping surplus proceeds from the foreclosure sales it DID conduct — money that legally belonged to the original property owners. They were foreclosing on people, selling their buildings, and pocketing the difference."

Can’t believe I’m posting for the first time since leaving Team 10 to comment on Justin’s Coachella set lol… Anyone calling it lazy is missing the business. He sold his publishing and artist royalties to Hipgnosis in 2023. UMG owns the master recordings. Every minute he spends performing the old catalog is a minute he's putting in work for other people's royalty checks. Playing the YouTube videos costs him nothing. No band, no backup singers, little production. Fans still get records like Baby, Sorry, Beauty and a Beat, and Never Say Never. All the nostalgia, none of the overhead. He saved his actual performance for Swag, which is the era he owns. He also got discovered uploading videos to YouTube as a kid. A laptop on the main stage is the most intimate, on-brand, and authentic thing he could've done. And he's in a completely new chapter doing it the way he wants. No Scooter, new team, new business structure. Full control for the first time in his career. If you didn't like it, you're just not a Belieber 🤷🏼‍♂️

Jesus rose from the dead and the first person He went to was His brother who thought He was crazy. Not Peter. Not John. Not the twelve. James. His kid brother. The one who grew up sharing a room with God and didn’t know it. Think about James for a second. His older brother is Jesus. Not “Jesus the Christ.” Not “Jesus the Savior.” Jesus the guy who worked in the carpenter shop and came home smelling like sawdust and sweat. Jesus who snored. Jesus who ate too fast. Jesus who their mother treated different and James never understood why. Because Mary kept her mouth shut. Luke 2:19. She kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Angels showed up at His birth. Shepherds fell on their faces. Wise men brought gold. And Mary told nobody. She just watched her firstborn grow up in a ghetto in Nazareth and kept the secret in her chest like a coal she couldn’t put down. James didn’t know his brother was God. He knew his brother was weird. He knew his mother looked at Jesus different. He knew Joseph moved the whole family to Egypt when they were little and never fully explained why. He knew that one time his parents lost Jesus at the temple and found Him three days later arguing with rabbis like He owned the place. Twelve years old. Already gone. Then Jesus grew up. Worked the shop. Paid the bills. Because Joseph died — the Bible doesn’t say when but Joseph disappears from the story — and in Jewish custom the eldest son takes over. So Jesus wasn’t posing for paintings in that carpenter shop. He was feeding His family. Putting bread on the table for His mom and His brothers and sisters in a town so poor Nathanael said “can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Then one day He left. Walked away from the shop. Walked away from the family. Left James holding the hammer and the bills and the responsibility for a widowed mother. James was pissed. Mark 3:21. His own family went to collect Him because they said He was out of His mind. That’s James. That’s the brothers. Showing up to bring the crazy one home before He embarrasses the family worse. John 7:5. His brethren did not believe in Him. His own blood. Ate dinner with Him for thirty years. Didn’t believe. Then Wednesday happened. The brother James thought was insane got arrested at night by temple guards. Got beaten until His face swelled shut. Got whipped until His back looked like raw meat. Got nailed to wood and hung up on a garbage hill outside the city. And James had to stand somewhere — maybe in the crowd, maybe at home, maybe hearing it secondhand — and process the fact that the brother he called crazy just died like a criminal. Three days and nights of silence. Three days of James sitting with the guilt of every eye roll. Every argument. Every time he told people “I don’t know what’s wrong with Him.” Every time he showed up to drag Jesus home because He was embarrassing the family name. Then Sunday morning. Jesus rose. Conquered death. Walked out of the tomb. And He went to James. 1 Corinthians 15:7. He appeared to James. Not in a crowd. Not at a distance. He went to His brother. The one who didn’t believe. The one who thought He was crazy. The one who was pissed that He left the family behind. He showed up and let James see the holes in His hands. Matthew 28:10. Go tell my brethren. Not my servants. Not my followers. My brethren. John 20:17. My Father and your Father. My God and your God. He rose to the highest position in the universe and His vocabulary didn’t change. Most men get a promotion and stop returning phone calls. Jesus conquered death and called the brother who doubted Him family. James went from “He’s out of His mind” to leading the church in Jerusalem. James went from trying to drag Jesus home to writing a book of the Bible. James went from skeptic to martyr. They threw him off the temple wall and when he survived the fall they beat him to death with a club. He died for the brother he once thought was insane. That’s what happened when Jesus showed up after the resurrection and said brother. One word changed everything. He’s not calling you servant today. He’s not calling you subject. He’s calling you what He called James. Brother. The same James who didn’t believe. Who rolled his eyes. Who showed up to take Him home. Who sat in the dark for three days choking on regret. He went to THAT guy first. If He went to James, He’ll come to you.

Oregons government cannot be fixed. Our Governor is beyond evil. We are a vote by mail state ONLY. The only way to rectify that is to vote by mail. THIS is Portland, Oregon. This is NOT all of Oregon. They are beyond hope. The rest of us sit hoping for a miracle. There is a reason 3/4 of the state wants to join @GreaterIdaho.

The City of Portland is now moving to fine property owners for vacant downtown storefronts, shifting the burden onto business and building owners. City officials are framing the ordinance as a revitalization effort, but the policy lands more like punishment than partnership. It also belies a more uncomfortable question: what has City Hall actually done to make Portland a place where businesses want to open, invest, and stay?
