@willwarren89 Just listened to @HarryStebbings podcast with Joel Monegro from @placeholdervc . Is it fair to say that this thread is consistent with Placeholder’s thesis on how the most value will accrue to governance and strong communities? @cburniske @jmonegro

1) Some thoughts on tokens. You can't force value into a token. Period. Grafting artificial incentives onto a token (velocity sinks or mint/burn schemes) inherently adds friction (more gas per trade) to the detriment of users. twitter.com/spencernoon/st…

@yanivf @decredproject @cburniske @placeholdervc Yes and yes. We invest in networks, not companies; buying through the open market directly capitalizes the network. VC structure, style and strategy is independent from asset class. Job is still identifying early-stage high-leverage opportunities.

@jmonegro @decredproject @cburniske @placeholdervc Does this mean you are invested only in Tokens and bought only on the open market? Aren't you a close ended VC? How does trading the free market sit with that strategy?

In what form (equity in the company or just acquired Tokens)? If equity, what is your upside bet as a VC? If Tokens, did you get a discount on market rates?
