@MisterRedlegs Agree, I was streaming but moving back and forth between 2 screens, and every time I looked at the Reds, it seemed Paddack had two out in good order but was being extended to close out the inning

The dumbasses and dimwits are in a lather over this. Here’s the problem: Paddock had 3 innings where he got 2 outs and then struggled to finish, running up his pitch count in a short burst. He was grasping, he wasn’t fooling the batters. Francona pulled him to end on a positive.
Chatterbox Sports@CBoxSports

Terry Francona on the decision to pull Chris Paddack after 5 innings: "I just thought with the time off, it would have been unfair to him." #Reds

Kash Patel needs to be fired after he thought it was a good idea to use his title as the FBI Director to snorkel on the grave of two of my family members.Whoever allowed him to do it should be punished also.We can’t even go near it and he’s out there with his flippers & snorkel.

@cgarber8 When I was umpiring that age group, a time or 3 I actually called a bad strike to try and get things moving when I knew the kid batting could have bashed the pitch and often had swung at the same location. Never called it for a K just to spur the guy to go for next one ;-)

@jefffcarr @spmancuso Bleday was arbitration-eligible this year (3.029 ST) but nontendered by the A's. He has significant contract incentives w/ Reds based on plate appearances, $100K each for 350, 400, 450 plate appearances. $150K each for 500, 550 PA

Hindsight is always 20/20…but it sure seems like regular sight should have seen that the Reds needed JJ Bleday on the roster on Opening Day

@DoctorDudeNess I just sent you an email to the account you had given me a couple of years back, just a hello to make sure it was working. :-)

@jn_walkerjr The disaster was based on what happed BEFORE the play. There was a full spectrum of opinions on Cardenas' effort and whether he should have made the play. Not the point. I'll chat you.

@jn_walkerj Jim, I've been looking for you. You might recall that I told you that I had more information about the 1964 tragic loss to the Phillies from an excellent biography of Fred Hutchinson. There is no doubt that Mauch had Cardenas hit on purpose. The pitcher who threw the pitch admitted it. It was a stroke of genius by Mauch, based on his knowledge of Cardenas' temper and his belief that other Reds would not believe it was intentional, igniting him further. He just had his hands on his knees during the warmup around the horn. Hutch would have taken him out of the game. Sisler screwed up. More later when I hear from you.

@DoctorDudeNess I sent you a message in the chat several days ago. There were also old messages we had exchanged a few years back. One had an email for me, which is still good, but I do not want to send it out in the open here.

@DoctorDudeNess Use the chat function, it is the one that looks like a speech bubble just below the notification bell on the left of my screen (browser, not app). I can verify by sight of my own eyes that Cardenas attempted to make a play on the ball behind 2b. it hit in front of and skipped by

@DoctorDudeNess @EvilJoeyVotto I agree. It looked like it was going to hit almost squarely on the horizontal top of the wall, perhaps a bit to the field side. Anything could have happened, clean HR, back in play for a double or even triple, or inside park HR if it bounced high enough before landing in play.

He's so pleased with himself, no sense of what he's done. Don't interfere with a ball in play. The umpires made the right call, but we'll never know what would have happened if he hadn't interfered. It may have bounced over the wall. Or it may have taken a big crazy bounce off the top of the wall, wreaking havoc.

@DoctorDudeNess I guess I am suggesting that just because Cardenas came the closest to making the play and appeared to get a slow break doesn't mean it clearly was his ball to play. Maybe it was just a perfect storm of placement.

@DoctorDudeNess The ball was dead over 2b, to perhaps a tad to the 1b side, as I recall it. Thomas was an old, slow pull power hitter. Had Cardenas been deep in the 3b hole? Where was Rose lined up? Things I will always wonder but did not take in as a 15 year old.

@cgarber8 I agree 95+% with you. I have a recollection of some balls that hit on top of the wall and skipped on up into the seats like a stone skipping across water. But I thought the trajectory of the ball tonight was not going to get it cleanly enough on top of the wall to skip over

@DoctorDudeNess @CBoxSports My take is the same guy has been given sway over the pitching (Derek Johnson), like he was a coordinator in football, yet the same issues keep on plaguing the staff.

@CBoxSports You get him going in low leverage situations. He'd given up 4 HRs to his last 8 batters! And why was Johnson used to mop up in the first game ? I thought this would be a manager who gives priority to actually winning games.

@AshleyDavis32 @HeatherKnitz Both for my money. They had a de facto ghost runner situation to win the game with 1 run in the 9th and the top of the order coming up, and failed to move the runner, let alone score.

@AshleyDavis32 The Bats game stream does keep showing some guy pounding on a synthesizer, presumably configured as an organ, during breaks (My audio is muted b/c I am also streaming the Reds). Don't know if he also being shown on the stadium screens.

@AshleyDavis32 I am streaming the Bats game. They do have some guy they keep showing on the stream who is pounding away on a Yamaha synth , presumably configured as an organ, during breaks (I have audio muted b/c I am also streaming the Reds). Don't know if he is on the in-park displays.
