I spoke at a conference in Vancouver yesterday, when asked for my thoughts on Canada's Sovereign Debt fund, I provided an answer and halfway through I was cut off by the moderator and asked to stop as we as a group were "over our time limit." BUT he then went on to my colleague beside me who was allowed plenty of time for his glowing recommendation on Carney, their positive view of the fund and prospects for huge economic growth. How can we make progress if we are too afraid to address our shortcomings?

President Trump’s new cross‑border pipeline agreement underscores that Canada and the United States remain capable of serious, mutually beneficial cooperation on energy and security. BREAKING: A Presidential permit has been approved for a new bitumen pipeline that will initially deliver more than half a million barrels per day of Alberta oil to facilities and refineries throughout the United States. This project is a joint venture between two great Canadian and US companies South Bow and Bridger using existing assets. After years of advocacy from our government, and following the signing of the Canada-Alberta Energy Agreement last year, the federal government has lifted their oil and gas production cap. This means Alberta producers will be able to produce more of the oil that the world needs. It’s incredible to see that work already paying off with announcements like this. The US is our most important trading partner and we will continue to deliver energy to help secure North American energy dominance.

@urbanlamb @toronto_morning The point is - Carney keeps saying he will diversify away from US trade. Great. But this strategy leave all of the ships doing the actual trade at the mercy of the US given their navy. Trump ain’t kidding when he says he has “all the cards”.

We stand our ground as we did from the beginning, while most other countries took the "appeasement" route, as they were terrified of the toddler-in-chief child rapist. And, they made those deals based on tariffs that were struck down as being illegal, everything the child rapist does is illegal. Many of those same countries still won't speak out against him, cowards. Do what thou wilt.

I think there are a lot of fair criticisms to be levelled at Carney; but starting from the assumption that the Americans are acting in good faith to secure "free trade" and the Canadians are mucking it up -- that's just pure delusion or dishonesty.
