@SunnyChowTheGuy You may consider spawning the world pieces and have it move instead of the train. Then you won’t have the floating point issues since you’ll always be close to the world center. You could also consider auto pausing the game if left too long.

@jodoran Hey there. I'm working on a video for my channel where I'll be talking about Culina. Would it be possible for you to DM me so I could ask about a few things?

@WinterwolvesG When I do personal projects I try to tackle projects that have aspects that I would like to get more attention to the games I normally play. But as you say budget/manpower, and scope can an issue for sure :-)

question for #indiedevs : do you make the kind of games you also like to play? I did VN/RPGs mostly, a few card games, one first person adventure and some sports/strategy sims (but loong time ago). However the kind of game I play most are souls-like, though I can't make them for obvious reasons (too difficult to code).

@GamesByKinmoku But I think the other versions are much cheaper on Steam right now; so probably what I’d suggest to see if you actually like it first before investing so much

@GamesByKinmoku I know the latest RPGMaker is inside Unity but reviews are mixed; haven’t looked into it much but that’s pretty real.

@GamesByKinmoku Either way; RPGMaker will save a lot of development time for things like level design, combat systems, etc. that doing in other engines will take a lot longer to get up. I do know some people have done RPGs in RenPy as well but always good to branch out too

@schenksmill Right now my daughter is mainly into Baby Shark, Peppa Pig, and the like; I’m assuming Bluey is an upgrade?

I do not wish COVID on anyone. I had the worst body shakes I’ve ever had in my life. It was scary having no control. Animals wanted to take care of me thankfully.

Game designer friends, other than Game Feel by Steve Swink, can anyone recommend any books on the topic of 3C/Gameplay design? :) Thank you!

@RetroGameCorps I got a pair when I had some long flights and it was great to have then. Works well with the Steam Deck and I bought a used Samsung S10e for ~$100 which has a Snapdragon 855. Add in a Bluetooth controller and you have a nice setup for gaming the go if you're not at your desk.

Review video of the Nreal Air glasses coming tomorrow. I felt like at this price point, there needs to be a good justification to pick them up, so I am going to dive into the details and see *ALL* the things you could do with them. Expect a very loooong video!

Haven’t finished it yet; but I really enjoyed my time with Shadowhand awhile back; highly recommended if you like card games, and at this price great opportunity to give it a try!

@chhopsky I like to think of it more like using the systems/engines to their fullest potential ;-)

if you've committed scripting / design crimes by abusing available systems, share in the thread! how could your crimes have been prevented? what question never got asked? what feature request jira never got prioritized? i know some of you have committed crimes. fess up

🚨advice for aspiring/armchair gamedev programmers 🚨 ALWAYS talk to designers while building systems for them they will take ANYTHING you build and find ten thousand uses for it you never imagined that's how you get fallout 3 train hats pcgamer.com/heres-whats-ha…

@moreelen If you’re a Disney-Parks person at all I’d recommend checking out Tokyo DisneySea, it’s a whole new park that isn’t around anywhere else in the world. Loved visiting when I got the chance and a lot of similarities between game design and experience design :-)

@thedanrosas @gravenimagerd I'll second Inscryption; really enjoyed my time with it. Also played on PC, but I heard it also plays well on Steam Deck if you have one

I’m taking the next two weeks off. If I could play one game, start to finish, what would you recommend?

@GamesByKinmoku That’s true; but may be worth trying the old one just to see if you like it or not and then deciding if you want to get the new one. I haven’t played ff7 remake yet (my ps4 is still in the states) so going to hold off for the time being myself.
