After being criticized for saying the Odyssey is "woke" (which I never said... anyway), why aren't people who love this film celebrating the fact that it is WOKE? Woke is good, right? Be proud that the film is woke and that we need more woke films!

The Left won. It's a stomping. It happens. The Left wins some, the Right wins some. It's culture wars and Nolan is the white George Floyd Revenge Goliath that choked out the backlash. Admit defeat on this one. The Right knocked down Little Mermaid, Moana, Snow White, The Marvels, but the Left won with The Odyssey. The score is 4-1.

Warners got pressured by Nolan to put TENET in theaters when they were not back yet (during COVID), then he got mad that his push cost them a ton of money, which led them to putting films day-and-date on Hbo Max...which is what got nolan to leave for Universal.

REMINDER: Just because you disagree with my assessment of The Odyssey, doesn’t make me a grifter.
I have best friends and colleagues that disagree, but they understand my reasoning.
I’m in the minority in my dislike for The Odyssey. That’s ok.
I wrote an entire article explaining my critiques. Some of those included the DEI castings, but my critique was far more than disliking those castings and I praised Nolan for some things.

I feel like with The Odyssey the culture war has made both sides of it not tell the truth. On the Left they go overboard with praise so as not to look like racists and on the Right they go overboard with attacks because they hate "woke" Hollywood. Somewhere in between is the truth.

The Odyssey isn’t woke; Chris Nolan is just continuing the pre-Obama idea of being race-blind and focusing on acting ability. Right-wing influencers are the ones infected with the woke-mind virus; they see it behind every bush and get triggered. The Odyssey by the numbers:
Reported Budget: $250 M
Reported Marketing: $150 M
$400 M minimum estimated spend according to reliable reporting.
Theaters keep ~50% of the box office. The studio gets the other half, but Universal must contractually pay Nolan 20% of their share off the top (as reported by Forbes), leaving an estimated 40% of the total BO for the studio.
This movie has to make $1 B for the studio to break even on the minimum estimated spend.
Will it make $1 billion? Highly unlikely. Why?
It’s 3 hours long, so there are fewer showings. It’s R-rated so it has a smaller audience. Ignoring any controversy it already has a difficult road to $1 B.
Nolan’s previous hit, Oppenheimer topped out at $970 M, and it was estimated that between 10-25% of total ticket sales were due to the Barbenheimer phenomenon.
There is no comparable phenomenon to boost ticket sales for The Odyssey.

One of the worst things of Nolan's Odyssey is that Odysseus, the main character is completely distorted in his pure essence.
Odysseus is the archetype of the trickster-hero — a perfect blend of:
Intelligence and cunning, he excels at strategy, deception, and quick thinking. His most famous exploit is devising the Trojan Horse, which ended the war.
Bravery and Endurance: He survives impossible odds through adaptability, Eloquence, resourcefulness.
But he's also proud, sometimes reckless (his hubris angers Poseidon), curious, capable of ruthless violence.
In this movie all of this basically disappeared, what remains is a depressed, plagued with guilt, wandering Odysseus. Matt Damon acting skills don't help, he has one expression and that's it. For me one of the worst miscast of the movie. 🌊🌊🌊

Look at this. Multiple critics are uploading the exact same review word for word, twice on Rotten Tomatoes, just to push The Odyssey’s critic score higher.
We’re seeing the same paragraphs copied and pasted across different accounts and outlets. It’s not even subtle anymore. They’re straight up gaming the system because they know the audience isn’t buying what Nolan is selling.
This is why these critic scores have become completely meaningless. When they’re this desperate to manufacture a high percentage, it stops being about honest reviews and starts being about protecting the movie at all costs.
The audience already showed what they think with that trailer. No amount of copy-paste reviews is going to change that.

@Dannypipes711 @Gazz_54 Because most of our Western entertainment has been ruined by leftists: movies, tv shows, video games, comic books. We mostly don't have any good new entertainment except for a few good games from Asia. And Nolan's Odyssey is just one part of this huge & annoying problem.
