Waymo has paused service in two cities because its robotaxis are driving into floods. They are recalling nearly 4,000 self driving vehicles over concerns they may not properly stop for flooded roadways. LiDAR clearly isn’t working.

Whenever I'm in the USA, I am shocked by how many 'churches' have giant rainbow flags hanging outside of them. It's like a sign of conquered territory.

I've been to 5 funerals in the past 20 years for young relatives of mine and children of my friends, all of them from vehicle accidents. One of them I was with my friend as he identified the body of his 16 year old daughter at the scene, and another and the most recent was my 18 year old nephew who will be wearing one of my suits for eternity. It's the most gut wrenching thing you will ever be a part of or witness. I am done with it. It's the main reason why I came to Tesla three years ago. I am so sorry for your loss Rachelle. I know Madie will live in your heart, and through you, everyday and for the rest of your life. And congratulations on your Tesla. ❤️

My angel sister Madie would be turning 32 today. She left this world while she was a freshman at BYU, passing away in a car accident that almost took my brother’s life as well. My family experienced both tragedy & miracles simultaneously on Nov 20, 2012. Anytime I see news of fatal car accidents, I’m always gutted for the family and friends who are now dealing with the traumatic grief of living life without those loved ones. I hope that with all the technological advances happening in mobility, someday soon we’ll live in a world where accidents are few and far between. Today I decided to be a relatively early adopter of autonomous vehicles and joined the Tesla family. I’m already loving driving with FSD. Happy Birthday Madie. Love & miss you every day. We are sisters forever.

This is the 'coolest' Tesla patent application I've seen in a couple years. The outer layer of the glass roof is solid, the inner layer is perforated, and there's an air gap between the two layers. That means you can pump the HVAC system through the ceiling of the vehicle for even cooling. It also means the ability to dampen sounds and alter resonance by changing the perforation matrix on the inner layer.

@OpenAI This is not a human achievement. We exist for human achievement. A world where we are all passive observers while AI models do all the achieving is a nightmarish dystopia and humanity can choose not to take that path.

Today, we share a breakthrough on the planar unit distance problem, a famous open question first posed by Paul Erdős in 1946. For nearly 80 years, mathematicians believed the best possible solutions looked roughly like square grids. An OpenAI model has now disproved that belief, discovering an entirely new family of constructions that performs better. This marks the first time AI has autonomously solved a prominent open problem central to a field of mathematics.

“To believe in God is to commit your life.” Jordan Peterson dropped that on the Shawn Ryan Show and it stopped me cold. It’s not saying “I believe.” It’s volunteering for the cross — betrayal, unjust suffering, staring down hell, and still stepping forward with courage. The real imitation of Christ. Most who wear the label have no idea what they’re actually signing up for. I’ve been wrestling with how cheap modern belief has become. Easy words. Brutal reality. In a world full of performative faith and slogans, this cuts straight to the difference between nodding along and actually living the pattern when it costs everything. This one hit like a gut check. What does real commitment look like to you — in faith, work, or relationships?

Another beautiful example of Tesla’s vertical integration. Neighbors were complaining about noise and commotion at this new Supercharger in San Francisco. So Tesla pushed a software update that asks people to turn their volume down, with a button to do it in 1 tap. Smart.

@TonyTaylor_87 This is my video. He had fairly recently had neck / upper back surgery and wasn’t feeling the best during this interview. The nearly two hour interview would’ve gone on longer if he wasn’t in pain

Bunch of stuff; but what stands out is all the early Japanese CGI. They had a parallel supercomputer for Ray Tracing in the early 1980s. Somehow didn't come up in my research for my video on Connection Machine. Video production: I've experimented with all the above. For this one I had a rough outline for the to-camera bits, and just did variations. For the VO I had a mix of scripted, and then replacements as I edited.

When I was 12 I decided I was going to make a 3D modeling app. Here are the drawings I made at the time. Well, 12 year old me: we finally did it!
