Reminder: Republicans control every branch of government - the Executive, both chambers of Congress and the Supreme Court. Yet all you hear is how all their failures are somehow someone else’s fault. It’s reached comical levels of gaslighting and projection. They’ve already added $2+ trillion to the national debt, the total exceeding our GDP for the first time since WW2. They’re barreling us into another painful recession…again. They’re dragging us into endless wars…again. They’re alienating our trading partners and strategic allies. They’re siphoning our tax dollars every day - via grifts ranging from frivolous lawsuits to vanity projects. This isn’t responsible governance. It’s a brazen heist.

On August 6, 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed into law as my father looked on. It was not a gift. It was the result of sacrifice, courage, organizing, and nonviolent struggle. I believe my father would be deeply troubled by the ongoing efforts to weaken voting rights and make fair representation harder to secure. But I also believe he would not want us to surrender to frustration or despair. We have work to do. It should probably be a bigger story that Donald Trump offered John Fetterman a significant “financial windfall” if he switches parties and becomes a Republican. Meet Bumpy! This enchanting little chap was rescued over the weekend. His mother likely died defending him in a territorial fight and when the Kenya Wildlife Service found him, he was huddled beside her body. They rescued him and placed him in our care. This was Bumpy's first night with us, snuggled next to Keeper Simon. Simon put his mattress on the ground and the tiny hippo nestled by his side, swaddled in his cherry blanket.
