@JerryMoloney1 Mine were 25 days, €210. Bull broke out last year before breeding & tipped a few so sold 3 SIX got €490 for them at 32 days. It was nothing to get excited about for the FR though. I don’t have enough space to rear all the calves here but if I did I’d be keeping calves longer.

Continental calves some trade in Tullow mart today. Seen some Belgian blue calves 14 days old making over €600. I left feeling very modest with what I got for Friesian bulls 😮‍💨

@kieran_kigr Ran heifers thru parlour twice before Christmas ,currently mixed thru dry cows ,no sticks ,no roaring souring at them in sheds ,lots space ,rarely an issue in parlour once calved …temperament is in how calm you are around them

Why wud u not train your heifers 🤔

@kieran_kigr @davidm3329 Train them ere. Use to feed all winter up the parlour but diet feeder now. In all I find if there use to walking in it a big help. Some wen calved tho still act the bollox just to try ya

Won’t touch sexed again. Losing hape money on cows repeating. 6 weeks calving has dropped from 93% to 80% and under cos of sexed semen use

Bull team picked for this year. Criteria; 30kgs + for solids on low milk volume. Maintenance €15+ EBI €330+ TB Less than 8% PTA Health over €10. No sexed semen being used this year, was all sexed last year.
