built an interactive guide to teach you the basics of mahjong ! 🀄 it includes rulesets from different regions (hk and taiwan for now) with a few interactive elements to illustrate mahjong concepts. more demos in thread, and a bit about the tools i used to build this. the one thing this guide can’t really capture is how social mahjong is -- mahjong tables are never silent ! they’re full of overlapping conversations and the constant click-clack of acrylic tiles stacking and shuffling against each other. come to @modal's mahjong night tmrw to experience that part for yourself : )

You can't force private sector to change it into WFH. The whole bus and train narrative is not going to work because the whole Selangor map is a hot mess, just like the rest of the Malaysia map. Many attempts were tried and traffic is still not solved. The only way to make it work is to destroy all the city and rebuild. Plus Malaysia is incentived to buy car because we have two local car manufacturers. You have to look at the new solution, and think out of the box. It is not guaranteed to work, but at least not wasting more energy on fail solutions. Last but not least, the ultimate ideal solution would be all cars are autonomous, that will dramatically improve all the traffic congestion, because no stupid human erratic behaviour, and no different driving habits. Do you know why after so many years there is no improvement? Exactly because there are many people like you don't have critical thinking ability and problem solving skill.

Man, fuck off. We could just do WFH, return bus lines and improve our train frequency and that would be far more effective.

I was asked abt Singapore/Malaysia shutting off Strait of Malacca if Iran is able to shut off Hormuz. Here is why Iran is unique. Iran has long strived self sufficiency. It is energy & food independent. As such, its population will likely not starve in the event it suffers whole scale bombing. It has vast landmass & huge population, so trying to take out the entire country is really hard. It also has direct rail line from China where it can get continue to get supplies to keep its military production going. It has 2 super powers supporting it that will provide it the intelligence needed to strike adversaries' assets. It has also prepared for the current scenario by putting its missile and drone cities underground & resilient. As such, despite massive bombing campaigns, it is able to keep hitting back. Most countries cannot do this. If you cut off energy/food shipping to Singapore or Malaysia from Indian Ocean & SCS, these 2 countries cannot last for very long. I don't want to get into their resiliency against long bombing runs, but it would be silly to think that Singaporean citizens would live through daily bombing the way that Iranians are dealing with right now. Singapore is a country that is deeply dependent on global trade, freedom of movement & international law. As such, it is critical for Singapore to continually support freedom of navigation globally, including through strait of Malacca. If ships are no longer passing through Strait of Malacca, then Singapore would lose its prominent position as a huge international trading hub. Traffic would not stop, they would simply get diverted. Again, Iran's current situation is quite unique. Unless other GCC countries can build out pipelines & oil infrastructure not under the threat of Iranian drones & missiles, Iran has significant leverage over ROW just due to its geography & yrs of self sufficiency movement.
