Essendon should have a real look at Jacob Hopper. He’s one of those players that just hasn’t found the right situation, and the trade to Richmond just hasn’t worked. Like Josh Caddy from Geelong to Richmond, you can bring him for his twilight years as a guy with a specific role - fast tracking our young mids. 30 next year and contracted until 2029 - hard to imagine the Tigers see him as anything other than depth. Is he worth a phone call?

Massive game for Tom Gross in the WAFL on Sunday. Gross was the hero as West Coast made it three wins in a row with a thrilling one-point victory over Swan Districts, kicking three goals including the match-winner in the dying minutes, to go with 22 disposals, seven clearances, six tackles and three score assists. Hasn't played at AFL level since Round 23 last season.

A perfect day of football for Essendon. Brad Scott coached very well, the leaders stood up, the kids were exceptional, the defence was on point, the club avoids a record 18th consecutive loss. Plenty of grit.... and finally hope for the future

Haven't seen many AFL sides as devoid of confidence, faith in each other or even hope as Essendon atm. So many players look like they don't want to be there, don't know what to do. Worst offenders among most experienced. Not just about youth. Disgraceful, really. #afldogsdons

@AnthP_ I think Robey needs a few more in VFL as no pres season but the parts of the game I watched, he looks like he will adjust to AFL easily and be very good ….surely throw Gerryn in for McKay ! Would compete so much better !!

2️⃣ Robey all punishment. Was constantly in line with the play/ball & in his teammates vision as a midfielder to be a link fwd Gerreyn has developed a lot as a def. Proactive positioning & made good decisions ball in hand. Darling is hard to shift 1v1 but he competed

Jayden Nguyen needs to further develop his game. He had 14 possessions, all by hand, and needs to add more variety. He’s a great kid, and if he keeps working as hard as he has to date, he’ll earn his way back in soon enough. Kondo has had a taste now it’s time to go back and work hard on what the coaches are asking for. Huss needs to get fitter. At the moment, he isn’t able to get from contest to contest consistently, but he has huge upside and an ability to read the play better than most. If he commits to the work, his opportunity will come again soon enough. Day Wicks has had a massive pre-season. He’s put in serious work in the gym and has laid some bone crunching tackles in match simulations and trial games. He’s earned his opportunity. If the senior guys don't lift this week the wheels will come off.

Yea sorry, not a fan. Huss, Jayden & Kondo struggled and all need VFL time to work on their game but they were far from the real problem & not in the big area of issue. no gripes on the ins, Farrow is a given for Redders & Jade + Saad are more mature bodies, ADW in will be fun.

@joffa007 I’d like to see Tsatas for Parish. You know what Darcy is at this point, this is year 11, you don’t know what Elijah could be. It’s easy to get seduced by Darcy’s counting stats IMO.
