1/ In my career, I have been a small part of several market transformations: the advertising market at Google, the music industry at Spotify, and the residential real-estate market at Zillow.

@business There are definitely a lot of people reaching out to SMBs (my co-founder @dylangans did a webinar with the @accausa (Air Conditioning Contractors Assn) and virtually every single person was getting hit every day with inquiries!

At the start of the year the team wanted to hire a data analyst. We even posted the role. Now, I think the role is completely dead. Everyone had data needs and not everyone knew SQL. I had been using AI to write queries for over a year at this point but the problem was I still needed to be knowledgeable about our data base structure & provide fairly specific instructions. Then one weekend, I fired up Claude Code with all of our SQLMesh context, all of the queries I had written, and the business knowledge that it has to write a markdown file explaining how our data was structured and what business terms meant. I gave this to our data visualization tool (s/o @_hex_tech) and now their agent handles all of our data requests for anyone on the team. If a query is wrong, we update the markdown file. We completely democratized access and removed any barriers @baton_market to knowledge. Hex is great but the pattern works with Claude Code, OpenClaw, etc. just as well.

@chenliw @meetgranola @Dropbox Think if they shipped a CLI (along with the MCP) before this change or in parallel, there would be less blowback, since a bunch of folks are using their OpenClaw agents to run workflows on top of Granola and OC agents don't natively support MCP.

Getting deja-vu from seeing complaints about @meetgranola encrypting the local DB for security reasons. In 2011 @Dropbox got flack for a similar issue - unencrypted local DB exposed the host ID token (though you needed root). Can’t please everyone… news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2421110

I'm green/red color blind so @karpathy's Jobs Treemap was REALLY hard to discern and quickly review. But since he posted the code on Github, I was able to ask my Openclaw agent to fork the repo and deploy a color-blind version where Blue = Green and I can actually see much more clearly in 30 seconds! 😅 colorblind-jobs.vercel.app

@farhaj Maybe entrepreneurship is the next blue collar job — and SMBs are just plain better businesses with better margins as AI bleeds into every nook and crannie.

The next 10 years are going to be all about internet-native SMB’s. Entrepreneurship is the new white collar job.

Excellent piece by @anuatluru on how AI is collapsing the gap between white collar and blue collar work. The punchline: the "luxury rights" of white collar — autonomy, creative ownership, a seat at the table — were always premiums on scarce cognitive labor. AI makes that labor abundant, and the premiums disappear. What's left looks a lot like a trade. Small business owners have always known this. They never had the white/blue collar distinction. They set direction AND execute. They're the strategist AND the plumber. As white collar "goes blue," more people are going to realize: owning a small business might be the most honest job there is. workingtheorys.com/p/white-collar

@jhong I mean, I look at salaries of people not executing and being AI-pilled enough as tokens the others can use for more impact in the business.

Meta laying off 20% is just the beginning. But this is not about replacing all humans with AI, at least not at the moment. This is about the people who are spending time on the side getting good at using AI becoming so much more productive that the companies can let go of the people who aren't doing that. People who don't keep up are going to be let go. People who keep up might actually get raises.

when something isn't going to work, i prefer that it simply end badly, instead of fighting along and showing glimpses of improvement, creating the false impression that it may work out after, when in your gut you know it won't
