@moxie @alexisohanian You don't have to build for 3+ platforms. Technically possible to do all with Java. But that doesn't fit with the control strategies of the marketing companies (aka big tech I guess). I didn't plan to add any input to this crap thing called X but oh well.

@alexisohanian There were a few years there, post-cloud but pre-mobile, where building a software product felt like it was getting easier/cheaper to me. Having to build for three+ platforms now sometimes makes me feel like we’ve gone backwards on that trajectory.

I raised $72,000 ($12K from YC, $60K from PG) for @Reddit in 2005. Crazy to think it's only gotten cheaper build a software company since then. And it's only going to get cheaper & faster.

Interesting observation: in Europe, most of the intercity buses like @FlixBus do not provide accessible services ♿️. In Bulgaria, we don't have accessible intercity buses at all. I have done a small research, that with public transport I can get to no more than 20% of the cities in the country. I wonder if all public transport should be accessible to all people? No matter if it is innercity, intercity or international, no matter if it is bus, ship, rail or air transport. 🚌🚢🚊✈️ I don't see technical issues with that. We're living in the 21st century.

Moving Java forward also means pushing for Java on mobile (ios/android). mail.openjdk.org/pipermail/mobi… I hope that some courageous/innovative people/companies will participate.

Researchers from Harvard demonstrate that quantum computing that uses neutral atoms in optical tweezers has a very low error rate, at least in small-scale tests. This could turn out to be key to scaling up quantum computers. news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/…
