@Halbridious I just wonder what he looks like when he comes back, if this isn't a Lonzo Ball situation

People just deciding that Cade is unathletic, and never ever indexing at all that *his fucking leg was broken since college*, or that *his team had the worst spacing in the NBA his first year* is such bad behavior. It's such a red flag about everyone's process now.

Imagine framing Dr. Cornel West, a preeminent black scholar and activist, as "the biggest threat to our survival" or pretending we're a "free people" when we live under a plutocratic dictatorship of the bourgeoisie.
Laurence Tribe 🇺🇦 ⚖️@tribelaw

Third party candidates like RFKJr, Cornel West, possibly Joe Manchin, are the biggest threat to our survival as a free people who govern ourselves

@cyclesixmile @ternbicycles Was that you by any chance yesterday at the Highland Park aldi, taking up the entire bike rack by parking horizontally? The reason I ask is because when I confronted the dude he explained that the reason he parked it that way it wasn't his bike, as though that is a reason.

I test rode the @ternbicycles Quick Haul yesterday and it was amazing. Unbeatable utility, price, fit, accessories... It could be a game changing bike for cities. It can meet so many needs and really start to replace car trips for a lot of different people.

Sometimes I see other cyclists riding the wrong way down the street or riding in the sidewalk when there is a bike lane, and do you know what I tell them?

If you are interested in the rise of authoritarianism, urbanisation in the global South, the ways in which ruling elites try to dominate city populations, and the way those populations respond.... 👀 Forthcoming September 2023.

Taking a break from the political economy moment to bring you my Pistons summer league rookie review lol. Sasser dribbles the hell out of the ball and I hate watching it already; Ausar Thompson moves like plasma and lightning and we are so fucking lucky to have him

@cyclesixmile From my perspective it is number one, we have to have the lowest car density of any major US city, I can hear them coming a mile away and I just move over. Biking in Los Angeles is a death wish For example

I received an outrageous email, a few days ago, from a research institute of the United States Congress that deals with African Affairs. I regularly receive these kind of emails, mainly from those in the Global North, representatives of foreign governments, or overseas observers. The sheer arrogance and sense of entitlement of their authors appear to be largely rooted in cultural prejudice and a troubling history of epistemic injustice. This is a history that treats blacks or Africans as mere sources of data – which must be validated, authenticated, synthesised, and packaged by others elsewhere – not as equals in the production of knowledge. This person’s original email, sent to me in their official capacity, provides a good indication of how he regards his (African) ‘informants’: as people to be instructed to issue information to him. In his second email, his response to my individual preference to be addressed by my name, he is complaining that l did not immediately fall into line and follow instructions like others he contacts. His response indicates that my replies must be 'worthy' of his time, yet he is the one claiming my time, by requesting that I do work for him. Argh! Well, I too value my life and time! If a person is so busy that they lack the time to address me by my name, then why the hell should l waste my time addressing their substantive issues? To prospective contacts, I have a simple message for you: when writing to me, please address me by name. I am not “Hey”, or “Hi there”. Or nothing. I have a name. And to me, substance starts with respecting that identity. Otherwise, I will ignore your correspondence or assume the burden of teaching you ‘civilisation’ and the niceties of etiquette!
