Fourteen years ago, when the big three automakers were struggling to stay afloat, my administration and the American people stepped in to support them. So did the auto workers in the UAW who sacrificed pay and benefits to help get the companies back on their feet. Now that our carmakers are enjoying robust profits, it’s time to do right by those same workers so the industry can emerge more united and competitive than ever.

#LEE MODELS 🌀 I want to reaffirm my message for Florida this will stay well east. I hope that will lower any anxiety and worry you might have about the storm. Models have been consistently away from Florida and have not changed...all 82 possibilities below. Even NHC noted in their recent discussion a poleward (north) turn next week. Florida East Coast will still see larger waves and the potential of dangerous rip currents. Long Island to Canada should closely monitor Hurricane Lee. Best case scenario is out to sea! I'll keep you posted on @WINKNews.

This is what Hurricane #Lee has transformed into in the last 24 hours. Incredible intensification into a cat 5.

Will be storm chasing in Southern California Sunday/Monday, covering California's first potential tropical cyclone landfall since 1939. Significant flash flooding will be the biggest threat, especially in southeast California deserts.

As a climate scientist, here are the recent climate news events that I am more or less worried about. More: new heat extreme records, wildfires, extreme flooding events. Less: AMOC collapse, Antarctic ice reduction. Still uncertain: North Atlantic SST records.

1. Cyclone Mocha is now making landfall over Myanmar. 2. At 278 km/hr, Mocha is the strongest cyclone to form in the north Indian Ocean (JTWC, satellite data). 3. Satellite image shows Cyclone Fabien in the south. 4. No sufficient satellite coverage to monitor these storms.

Today in 1903, 110 million tonnes of limestone rock, measuring 1 km wide, 425 metres high & 150 metres deep, slides off Turtle Mountain on to the Town of Frank. The rockslide kills 70 to 90 people in Canada's deadliest landslide. Learn more 👇 canadaehx.com/2023/03/21/the…

Reminder. 40 C = 104 F ...and the monsoon begins next month.
Peter Dynes@PGDynes

The whole of #India is currently coping with incredible levels of heat. 40C plus in many places. The globe is warming - the impacts are starting to manifest in certain regions of the world pushing the limits of human survival.

It's chilling to see the increasing certainty in climate change attribution in the last four IPCC Reports. At the same time, here's fossil fuel use as percent of global primary energy consumption when those reports were published: 2001: 77.1% 2007: 79.7% 2013: 79.7% 2021: 77.1%

Do you think climate scientists and the IPCC are too optimistic? Do you believe society is collapsing and humans are going extinct? Nature’s newest research journal — Nature Climate Doom — is the place to publish your best work about how and when the world will end.
