@john_reyes I think he's been an strong chairman off the field (stadium etc.) and a challenging one on it (recruitment, firing coaches, etc.). He's still got a big stake in the club so he's not going anywhere, but I did think it was time for new leadership. He leaves with his head up though.

@BackwardsFeet Yes, Apple refurb devices will typically have new batteries (<25 cycles and 100% battery health). They even qualify for AppleCare+ if you want the added peace of mind

@BackwardsFeet That 2024 Air is fantastic. The leap in performance and battery life from the M1 to the M4 is really noticeable and should get you an extra 1-2 years on the lifespan. That’d be my pick

@BackwardsFeet If you have the budget for Apple Store refurbished, spring for it since it has the full one year warranty and those devices are often indistinguishable from a new device cosmetically. On an eBay refurb I’d budget for a battery replacement at the least ($129)

@john_reyes How much do I want to trust eBay refurbished though? I'm looking at the Apple store site itself, which is admittedly a little bit more expensive but I also get an additional 10% discount

@john_reyes I'm looking at some pretty tempting refurbished deals. I had a Macbook Pro back on the day (got stolen out of my seminary room!) and I liked it.

@BackwardsFeet Downsides are that it’s not user serviceable on the hardware side - but they’re very well built devices to begin with. And Mac OS at the end of the day is a **nix-based operating system that is rock solid and plenty powerful

@BackwardsFeet Mac laptops - and in particular the MacBook Air - is probably the best product Apple makes now. A base 16GB Air with an Apple Silicon processor is a workhorse and there isn’t a thing a typical person could throw at it that it couldn’t handle for the next 5-6 years

Pretty sure there are a lot of democrat electeds who are glad about this b/c they want kids to have the option but they never wanted to pay the price for making it happen with the teacher unions. A lot of haters will be undercover participants for sure.
