De Nederlandsche Bank verwoordde het in mei 2023 zo: “Het goud blijft als ultieme reserve bewaard voor het geval het financiële stelsel in problemen raakt. In dat scenario kan goud nog waarde hebben en zou het gebruikt kunnen worden om in feite, weer opnieuw te kunnen beginnen.” Blijft toch opvallend dat sommige economen de waarde van schaarste en hard geld structureel lijken te onderschatten...
