What would happen if we required universities to have certain graduation rates and a certain percentage of degree related job placement in order to viably accept student loans and federal money?

Cost to attend UW-Madison for in-state students: $30,644/year. Wisconsin’s minimum wage: $15,080/year. High tuition costs don’t hurt wealthy Wisconsinites, just those from working class backgrounds. We need to pass tuition-free college for Wisconsinites.

Remember when colleges required a minimum ACT score? Remember when most kids didn’t go to college? Universities can charge and collect all the money they want with no repercussions. The debt stays with kids and they have no accountability for it. So what did they do? Used the public education system and told us everyone needs higher education. Increased the student pool and harvested more money. What’s the job placement rate for many degrees? What’s the completion rate? Imagine what would happen to universities if their turnover and placement rates decided how many students and how much federal aid they could collect?

Can anyone justify this?
