That's still not okay. He didn't hit her, but smashing things in anger is also a form of intimidation. Both reactions show a lack of control,violence isn't just physical, it can be expressed in other ways too. If it gets to the point of slaps and rage like this, something is seriously wrong in that relationship. They both need to step back and address the issue properly, because this kind of dynamic can escalate fast.
