@TSnooker102 @Eval_00 yeah, cause Spielberg didn't show the shark in JAWS like you are falsely trying to make a comparison too. Wow, that really is "NOT SHOWING THE MONSTER". lol. Try again Clown.

@johncocozza @Eval_00 If only you understood film making, you'd know that sometimes not showing the monster properly works better. That's why Jaws is so good, or are you now going to claim that jaws is bad too?

@TSnooker102 @Eval_00 One of these is "clearly seeing". One of them is a foggy pile of rocks. You are lying and obviously the person that needs glasses. As well as desperate to defend a steaming pile of dog poop film.

@chopsticklin @Eval_00 Yeah OK... I watched a pile of foggy rocks filmed with a telephoto lens and Matt Damon screaming. Absolute nonsense.

That is "Showing The Sirens". huh?? In all the possibilities of film making and millions to spend. That is what he came up with. It is garbage and shows he had zero concepts, creativity, and just pure laziness. You could film the exact same thing with some friends and a 100-400mm lens and DSLR camera on a weekend.

That is not showing them. You are showing a pile rocks in fog. That is what is being shown. "Leave more up to imagination" just means that Nolan had No Imagination, No creativity to do anything with the millions upon millions he had to create practical effects. Garbage film making and 100% Lazy.

@johncocozza @Eval_00 He did show them they were in the island of rocks partly covered by mist to leave more up to imagination. He did it perfectly.

That's your "you can literally see them". Haha. You people are clowns. Nolan showed a foggy pile of rock in the water shot with a telephoto lens from the distance. When you take into account all the possible things you could have done with having millions upon millions to spend for practical effects. This is what you come up with. Just total garbage, zero creativity, and laziness.

@Elias92905563 @Eval_00 Hardly, but anything would have been better than showing a foggy pile of rocks. Absolutely, zero creativity while have a budget of 250 million to work with. Absolutely massive wasted opportunity to do some creative and amazing. Another reason why this movie is garbage.

Oh yeah, that looks "clearly" to me.. You people are clowns. He showed a foggy pile of rocks filmed from a distance. He had millions to work with, and couldn't come up with a single thing creative. No costumes, no puppeteers, no animatronics. Couldve shown the soldier getting devoured. NOPE nothing. Just some foggy rocks in the water.

@johncocozza @Eval_00 He chose not to show them (up close) for the same reason he chose not to let us hear the actual song. Because nothing he could have put forward could have beaten our imagination of it.

"Very clearly" huh?? You people are clowns. This entire scene was one big waste. Nolan had millions to work with and do an incredible scene with their humans in costume, puppeteers, or animatronics. Couldve showed that soldier being devoured since he already had an R rating. NOPE. Just a pile of foggy rocks. Zero creativity. Another reason why this film is a 5.8 at best.

Nolan is totally lazy. With all the money in the world to create practical effects, skipped it and showed a foggy pile of rocks. Could done some actually creative and make amazing looking animatronics, puppets, or even actors in costume as the sirens. Then shown the soldier who somehow was able to swim in armor getting to the island and being devoured. NOPE... A foggy pile of rocks that any person with a 100-400mm lens and DSLR camera could make in a weekend off of Monterey or Point Lobos.

Christopher Nolan is brilliant for muting the siren song because for Odyssey, a traumatized soldier with survivor's guilt, what he can no longer have is his unblemished former self For us, our siren songs are all different, by refusing to let us hear it Nolan turns silence into mirror. we don't hear odyssey's deepest longing, but our own and for the moment his agony becomes ours.

@Lioness4Good Doggos Gus here in San Diego has an amazing one. American business, started with food trucks and booths at events. Now has a location in downtown San Diego. Go support him everyone, not the illegal food vendors downtown with zero health permits.
