@jaynordlinger Yes, dishonorable. The only reason to do this is for purposes of publicity. Yet, this’ll of course draw much more attention and make Trump look much worse. It’s a characteristic aspect of Trump’s pettiness.

I returned from being overseas with my family the day after this. At that time, you’d have no way to know what happened. Shortly after getting home, when I turned on the TV, Jerry Girard was giving his sports report on the WPIX Channel 11 news (New Yorkers from that time know the reference). He began with, “Unless you’ve been out of the country, you know what happened at Yankee Stadium yesterday.” Likewise, as a Yankees fan, I had huge respect for Brett. Just a great ballplayer. The pitch he hit for his “pine tar” HR off Gossage was practically a shoulder high fastball. Incredible. In a strange way, I think he’s somewhat underrated. Should’ve been on all-century team introduced during World Series, instead of Brooks Robinson.

@BOSthrowback Always found it laughable that Red Sox fans made Captain I Better Keep My Mask On their franchise’s indelible image.

@BarstoolHubbs The trade for Gallo at age 27 was an excellent one, if he’d simply been the player he was - power, patience, excellent glove and arm. There was no reason to think he wouldn’t be that player. His collapse hurt the Yankees for several seasons.

Really doesn't get talked about enough how Joey Gallo forgot how to play baseball in the prime of his career. No scandals, no injuries, just total loss of ability to play the sport. He's still only 32 years old and hasn't played a big league game since 2024.

@nyyankeesstats 2001 Mussina was so good. I remember 1 of those Candelaria sparklers in 1988. He was very good in his one Yankees season. The Candy Man can…the Candy Man can…

@jamesrwoodtheo The inability, and maybe unwillingness, to make such a necessary and vital distinction was one of the revelations of the Revoice matter and the issue of homosexual attraction on the whole.

@GOPoversight @RepTimBurchett A question to ask her, as well as those like-minded, is whether she believes that nations belong to those who are indigenous to the land? In other words, is she a blood and soil nationalist?

People can’t seem to accept the rarity and value of good hitters in this environment. Look at the #s for Betts, Bregman, Tatis, Machado, Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh. Sure it’d be nice if Jazz had last year’s 800+ OPS. But, even as he’s been this year, Jazz would be a very difficult player to replace. And that’s apart from his proven upside.

Imagine wanting to replace Jazz Chisholm with Luis Arraez in a lineup that’s without its two best power hitters? The worst part about this app is that it gives everyone a platform no matter how stupid they are.

Trump identifies as the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election. Trump’s authentic self is Winner and not Loser. Human decency requires us to respect the civil and human rights of Transpresident Trump, as a member of our marginalized trans community.

“He (CS Lewis) saw that in the modern world human beings had been stripped of any intrinsic, necessary moral structure - stripped in other words, of those limits and ends that constituted their given nature. For Lewis, they were doomed to an existence that offered no real significance whatsoever…To deny limits and ends to human nature is to deny it any meaningful substance. Only an understanding of human nature as having moral limits and a moral end or telos could make life meaningful.” Carl Trueman, “The Desecration of Man.”

“ So put the ratchet down before it snaps. Christians should need that reminder least of all. Our assignment was never to be based. It was to be faithful, to take courage, to tell the truth, to do good, and to leave the results with God.” The right-wing gaze wng.org/opinions/the-r…

Helpful article, making clarifying and historical distinctions, pertaining to contemporary Church and State discussions. “This is one reason the current debate can become confused. If liberty means the unconstrained liberty of Paine and the French Revolution, then Christians should be profoundly critical of it. But if we are speaking instead of ordered liberty, constitutional restraint, religious liberty, due process, institutional pluralism, and the moral formation required for self-government, then we are speaking of something much closer to the Anglo-American tradition that shaped American Presbyterianism.” pcapolity.com/2026/07/07/ord…

There have been 4 major revolutions in the past 250 years: American, French, Russian, and Chinese. Only one led to individual rights and prosperity. The others led to mass death and tyranny. The US revolution was unique because it said two things: 1. Our rights come from God not from the govt. 2. Humans are power -hungry so we need to limit govt power. So the next time someone attacks the nation of one revolution that succeeded and recycles the the idea of those that miserably failed, you can ask them: are you ignorant, or malicious?

@rationalyankee The problem is Oswaldo. Oswaldo came up in 2022 and briefly gave us some good vibes, while the team was struggling. Though he’s apparently a good guy everyone likes, Oswaldo is in no way a MLB caliber player either as a hitter or fielder. He shouldn’t be on any MLB roster.

At first I was a little upset about this, but when you look at Goldschmidt’s numbers vs RHP they’re pretty bad. 71 wRC+, 23.8 K% and .171 ISO. His role is to hit LHP. He doesn’t hit RHP well and there’s no way to say he’d have done any better than Cabrera. The reality is that Cabrera just needed to have a better at bat. He had a chance to put the ball in play and did not.
Chris Kirschner@ChrisKirschner

Paul Goldschmidt was available off the bench. Had confidence in Cabrera to get the job done there.
