Physicians have dealt with a 29% real decline in Medicare reimbursements over the past two decades, even as practice expenses (like staffing, equipment, and malpractice insurance) have risen faster than inflation This proposed cut is akin to telling a factory worker, “Great job automating the line to boost output. Here’s a pay cut because you’re too productive now.” Urology community: make your voice heard now. Like and retweet… extend the reach. Don’t assume others will do it.

HUGELY IMPORTANT Urology friends: votervoice.net/AUA/Campaigns/… CMS is looking to cut procedural reimbursement by 2.5% on the presumption that we are becoming more efficient. Sign this petition.

In Memory of Dr. Christopher Julian (Stanford Urology Resident, 1993–1997) We are deeply saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of Dr. Christopher Julian on 6/29/25, a beloved member of our alumni community and former Stanford Urology resident from 1993 to 1997. Dr. Julian earned his bachelors degree from University of California, Berkeley, and received his MD from Georgetown University. He returned to California to complete his residency training at Stanford Urology, where he distinguished himself not only as a dedicated clinician but also as a guest lecturer in the Department of Physiology. The son of well-known Fresno urologist Dr. Robert Julian, Chris joined him after residency to co-found the Urology Associates of Central California. Together, father and son became pillars of specialized care in urology and leaders in their community. In recognition of his impact, he was honored in 2008 with Fresno Magazine’s “Best in Fresno” award, selected by local primary care physicians as the top urologist in the area. He maintained close connections to our department throughout his career. We all recognized him as an outstanding local physician who took great care of our mutual patients. Beyond his clinical work, he was a devoted husband to his wife Julie and father to their daughter. He regularly spent time golfing with his father and skiing and vacationing with his family. Dr. Julian’s sudden passing is a profound loss to the Fresno medical community and to all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time. @StanfordMed @_AHerbertMD @steveranzhou @jessiege_ @Belay_RE @JayOgunk @Ama_Ndumele @sherry_lu5 @julianakim04 @TommyJiang_2023 @Annie_Zwaschka @StanfordMed @StanfordCME @liaojoe1 @geoffsonn @contisimon @DrEnemchukwu @DrBenjaminChung @DrMEisenberg @DonaldDeglover @f_delgiudice @GuolanLu @johnleppert @twiropa @ShkolyarE

@SPuro88 @shaker_leonard We disagree. Hopefully this will incentivize the USPTF and AAFP to re-examine the updated evidence and restore previous screening guidelines. Most 80yo would be happy to take a biopsy and 5 treatments of radiation than risk a de novo stage IV diagnosis.

I wonder how much today’s news is going to spike up PSA screening in 80+ year olds with less than 10 year life expectancy.
