NEWS: Rolls-Royce has scrapped its plan to go all-electric by 2030. CEO: "We'll continue to sell cars with the V12 engines as there was demand from clients. The legislation has changed. That prediction was based on a different set of circumstances. We recognize some clients would rather have a V12 engine. The V12 is part of our history. For every client who is unsure whether our Spectre EV is right for them, there will be one that says ‘I love it’.” We can respond to our client demand … we build what is ordered.”

@johnmccumber @KurtSupeCPA Exactly. I don't understand the scenario where parents WOULD give young adults money. If they're doing well, they don't need it. If they're not doing well, they don't deserve it?

Couple comes in for their annual review. $2.8 million. Well invested. Solid Pension. Completely on track. I ask the question I ask everyone. "How is your daughter doing?" Mom's face changed first. Their daughter is 39. Hasn't asked for anything. Never complained. But she's been in the same apartment for six years. Daycare alone is $1,800 a month. Down payment feels impossible. Dad said "we always figured she'd get it eventually." I pulled up a simple chart. Statistically they live to 88. She inherits at 56. Maybe 60. At 60 her own retirement is eight years away. The money that could change everything at 39 arrives when her finish line is already close. Neither of them had ever seen it framed that way. The annual gift exclusion is $19,000 per parent per child. They can move $38,000 a year to her. No gift tax. No estate implications. Over ten years that's $380,000 transferred while they're healthy enough to watch it matter. Dad looked at his wife. "Why are we waiting?" Most families leave everything at death because nobody showed them the math of giving it while they're alive.

@DanaLeaB1 Local restaurants in Retirementville are usually just “meh”. I’d rather cook “fancy” meals at home and spend my ‘eating out money’ on raw bars, dockside dives, and tiki drinks.

@KurtSupeCPA A lot of people who might say that the money would ruin the children are really exposing that they believe children cannot be raised well enough to handle money. Be a good parent while they're living. Selfishness is tiresome.

I just said the same thing at my Tiger 21 meeting last week: give while it still can change the trajectory of their lives. This not only helps them on their journey but also removes the silent stress that comes with waiting for people to pass so you can finally get something. In a UHNW situation, the kids start to feel like employees who have to toe the line and be careful. I see it all day long. In general, I try to give at the point of need, and I am positive this is the best way.

Every Boomer parent and grandparent hold onto their money and don’t even think about passing it down to their kids or grandkids when it could actually do some good or improve their relationship with their children. The fact that these grandparents have $3m in investments and pension income, while their daughter and grandkid are renting and paying $1800/m for daycare is insane. 1. They could help watch the kids instead of daycare. Better for the family and relationships 2. The Finacial help should have come sooner

Enfin.

We should revive traditional clothing. So many cultures have really cool traditions and manufacturing techniques shaped by local materials and climate. Everything has become so homogenized now that many people don’t even know how their ancestors dressed.

Guangxi gets a 4-day official holiday for the Zhuang ethnic group in March. Because in China, minorities have their own holidays, and these are respected under the law.

I really, really miss all the cybersecurity road warriors who used to: - brag about how many miles they fly - complain about delays/csncellations - boast about the foreign city they are in

A 1957 “Gossip Bench” — when furniture was doing absolutely everything. Part chair, part side table, part desk, part lamp, and part telephone station, this mid-century piece was designed for reading, writing, chatting, and keeping the essentials within arm’s reach. A perfect little time capsule from the era when the telephone was important enough to deserve its own seat.

I’ve been thinking about Notre Dame de Paris today- here it is lit up at night before the fire. It was taken from the window of a funny little hotel with appalling wallpaper and an en-suite so small that you couldn’t close the door when you sat on the loo. 2014

The new Sartiano's Italian Steakhouse at Wynn is freaking beautiful. We started strong with the $125 Tableside Fettuccine Alfredo with black truffle, aged Parmigiano, and burro di bufala. Are you down?

Unless you’re driving 500+ miles per day, you don’t need an EV with that much range. The average person drives around 37 miles per day. Current Tesla offerings provide way more than enough for the vast majority of people. On road trips, I can usually only drive about two hours before I need to get out, stretch my legs, etc. During that time, my car charges. It’s not the inconvenience people think it is. It doesn’t make sense to lug around a huge battery when most people don’t actually use that capacity.

When Tesla’s get to 500 miles per charge; I’ll think about one. BTW there’s an app that allows Waze to work. 🙄 #thinkIdontknow? 🥱😑
