@NUCLRGOLF I don’t understand what is the trophy in the picture. USA lost the Ryder Cup

🚨🏆🇺🇸 #NEW — 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk has announced from the Kentucky Derby that Stewart Cink & Justin Leonard have been named vice-captains.
English

@Top100Rick Sorry, I didn’t realize how badly that came out. Combination of dictation and AutoCorrect.
Anyway, I hope the PGA tour learns the right lessons.
English

@Top100Rick I’ve always hated LIV as a sportswashing boondoggle but as a non-golf and my sense is that there’s a false sense. The PGA Tour has won. This one in the reality is LIV seems to have given up just because of oil geopolitics. At the end of the day, the only golf events that matter/1
English

Now that LIV is on its death bed, let’s talk about the worst take that LIV stans have:
“But the players make more money now!”
Who the F&@# cares? What kind of boot licking fan is watching sports and thinking “I’m sure glad these golfers can afford bigger yachts!”
All LIV did was make pro golf financially unsustainable, make less money go to charity, and ensured less spots in events for the players.
Nothing good came of LIV unless you are a top golfer or live in Adelaide.

@funcity_5 @Super70sSports It was every major league ballpark on weekdays before night games. Though maybe some people were a little better dressed.
English

@Super70sSports Before the corporate suites and the World Series run this was Yankee Stadium in the late 80s early 90s.
English

@ShawnWhite0904 @Super70sSports Harry Caray started with the Cubs in 1982
English

@Super70sSports No disrespect to Cubs “fans” but most are phonies. In the 70s and early 80s I never knew a Cubs fan.Harry Carey started broadcasting on WGN and everyone became a Cubs fan because it became the cool thing to do.This pic was the norm til the phonies jumped on board.
English

@Top100Rick /2 are the majors on the Ryder Cup— it turns out the PGA tour had zero influence on the majors. Still I think hiring Brian Rolapp was a good move.

Thank you, Sabres fans.
My former city near the border understands that Canada and the United States have forever been the greatest of allies.
Again, one of the most spectacularly asinine totally avoidable geopolitical fuckups of my lifetime.

@MLB @baseballhall As a league you need to quit this collective bootlicking. It's extremely offputting. This is weird fascist shit.

The flag that Rick Monday rescued 50 years ago today is headed to Cooperstown!
OTD in 1976, Monday, a Cubs outfielder and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, grabbed an American flag from two protesters who had run onto the field at Dodger Stadium and attempted to burn it.
Monday, the longtime Dodgers broadcaster who played 19 years in the Major Leagues, was a two-time All-Star and a World Series champion, has often been asked about the moment.
“If that’s all you’re ever remembered for, that’s not a bad thing at all,” Monday told MLB Network in 2016.
Monday still owns the flag and it will be on loan to the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. In addition, Monday will be honored on July 25 during induction weekend.

@Top100Rick @longislandvinny You can’t totally blame the shutdown rules. The panic around Covid meant that ppl were going to stop congregating regardless of whether there were mandates or not.
English

@longislandvinny Covid was real, it ducked me up!
But the shutdown rules were insane. To destroy small businesses while allowing big business to stay open was pure evil.
English

A moment frozen in time.
6 years ago during Covid, The Perfect Cup diner in Anchorage, Alaska closed. A local favorite, it couldn’t survive the shutdown.
As I walked by yesterday, I noticed the menus were still up.
LOOK AT THE PRICES! 🤯
And Alaska prices are 20% higher than the lower 48 states.
Your average person has no idea how much poorer they have gotten. Money printing is a brutal tax that hits the average person so hard.

@Top100Rick It’s part of a broader problem that attending live sports is increasingly an exclusive luxury. It’s hardly limited to the masters—which is kind of the Super Bowl of golf.
English

I see people actually bashing Augusta National for busting scalpers.
Are we serious? For years the masses have bashed scalpers. Now someone is doing something about it.
The resale market for The Masters is basically OVER.
You will either get tickets through the lottery or corporate buys, or you will not attend.
I applaud them overall. F people who just want to be middle men profiting off peoples dreams. Scalpers just increase costs massively.
On the other hand, it does suck that there is no option now. For 99%, it’s either win the lottery or never attend.
I don’t have another answer better than this. So if we hate scalpers, then this has to be the way.
Bill Krackomberger@BillKrackman
Augusta National can take your Masters badges back anytime and they DO NOT have to give a reason. It is considered a privilege to have a badge/ticket. They have cracked down big time on secondary sales.
English

@OleTimeHardball Fans are of course going to be partisan in their choice. Mine is Yadier Molina. But id I take away my team I think I’d go with Fisk

@Top100Rick I think sometimes Rory could use a good PR guy and do what he says. But then he’d be polished and boring and we’d hate him for that. He’s definitely a flawed human as we all are so haters have a number of different things to grab onto if they wish
English

@Top100Rick Not a golf guy especially but I’ve become a bit of a Rory fan. I wouldn’t expect there to be much of a rational explanation honestly. Hatred like this is inherently not so. Like you’ve pointed out several times he golfs with Trump but maybe some Trump supporters don’t know that.
English

@realChuckWagonx @SharpFootball Why even show it at all then?
English

@bryancurtis I listened to this on radio so I missed it live. The shot is not ideal obviously but it was a tap in, they probably got un lucky with the angle.
English

One of the craziest shots you’ll ever see at the end of a huge sporting event
Warren Sharp@SharpFootball
seriously this is the shot you go with??? can’t even see the ball go in
English

@JonnyRoot_ It’s not an unfair advantage. He earned it by winning in 2025. Being a masters champion has it’s privileges
English

Rory McIlroy admitted he had an unfair advantage over all the other golfers.
I’m dying on this hill.
Jon Root@JonnyRoot_
Rory McIlroy admitted he had an unfair advantage “this place feels like my home course. I haven't played anywhere else in the last 2 or 3 weeks... I felt prepared that wherever I hit it on the golf course, I sort of know what to do. I know where to miss.”
English

Maybe getting the opportunity to play Augusta National unlimited times the month leading into The Masters, while skipping three straight tournaments, gave Rory McIlroy an unfair advantage over the other competitors… Just maybe.
Congrats, or whatever.
