#OnThisDay 1984. The National Coal Board grant working Nottinghamshire miners a day off with pay to demonstrate against the #MinersStrike
7,000 miners demonstrate at Berry Hill in Mansfield.
@StePurpleHeart I agree but 9/10 Gabriel gets a red card- it’s the consistency that posses you off.
No ref cards and VAR gives a red
Anyway fuck the Lego headed cunt x
@JonOfBarnsley Great that tbf - two yellows probably about right as both been at it. Great to see - play on. Even though I hate the teef-filled crayon-head.

@richardfordford@PaulHeatonSolo It wasn’t who voted which way that I had an issue with, it was the reasons for closure. If you believe travelling pickets (which MT illegally stopped) were the reasons that the vast majority of the UK coalfield was shut down over the following 10 years then books won’t help you.
40yrs ago today- more walking from Conisborough to Barnburgh to Goldthorpe then Thurnscoe then Bolton upon Dearne then Wath upon Dearne and finally to Mexborough and a lovely pint and conversations in The Roman Hotel-facebook.com/pages/Roman-Ho… and finally the bus to Conny.
@richardfordford@PaulHeatonSolo What a bizarre take! All the facts are well documented over the last 40 years, just read some books and put down your copy of The Sun from 1985 you’ve still got tucked under your arm.
@PaulHeatonSolo Where I live (ilkeston) the pits weren't closed because of lack of investment.
They were closed because num unions from Leicestershire and Yorkshire shipped in violent people to throw bricks at people who wanted to work to feed their families and pay their rent.
Everything rotten in Britain stems from this period. Everything.
Landlord rents. Shit in the rivers. Zero work hours. No British industry. Gas, electric bills through the roof,
No affordable housing.
All of it.
I know there's always ifs and buts and now is not the times, but can we just rejoin the EU already? This nonsense has gone on for far too long and done enough damage. The world is rapidly changing and we need to stop wasting time masturbating over the ghost of sovereignty.

@TheBarmyArmy Mid on/ mid off etc fielding the ball, batters no intention of running, so ball is dead - give the ball to the bowler don’t fuck about throwing to the keeper
@FullFact And if there was such a thing (there isn’t), I don’t think it’s compulsory to buy it. You could just walk past it on the shelf and buy a Twix
An image of a Cadbury ‘Eid egg’ has been widely shared on social media, but it isn’t real.
Mondelēz International, the company that owns Cadbury, confirmed this isn’t a genuine product from them.
