Paraxanthine - a market to watch? Saw an ad today about @DrinkUpdate. It’s an energy drink that supposedly provides a caffeine boost without the come-down by extracting paraxanthine from caffeine. Some context - when you consume caffeine, it’s metabolized in the liver and breaks down into three primary metabolites: paraxanthine, theobromine, and theophylline. Theobromine and theophylline are the main culprits behind the typical “crash” after drinking caffeine. So what - I see some other products using it too. Seems like an exciting market, especially considering - The energy drink market is projected to grow by 8% annually over the next six years, reaching $117 billion by 2030 - Gen X and Millennials are the largest consumers of energy drinks, and they are highly focused on health and wellness Only question is does it really work? If anyone has experience with paraxanthine products would love to hear your thoughts!
