Chinese open source is no longer "6 months behind", but it's also no longer "10% of the cost" either Congrats to Moonshot on Kimi K3, 2.8T, $3/$15 - same as Sonnet but initial feedback is great, we'll be sure to run FrontierCode on our side

Volvo EX60 test drive Super nice parking experience: Best 360 camera system. Small edgeless mirrors close to body. Width with mirrors extended = our VW ID.3. Super quiet at highway. Active noise cancelling in the cabin. Great combo with 1820W 28 speaker B&W audio. Thread...

Germany couldn’t simply ignore the Dutch approval, so the KBA had no choice but to review it. But instead of acting quickly, they launched an extensive independent evaluation to determine whether they would recognize the RDW’s approval. Although there finally seems to be real momentum, with Tesla employees in Germany reportedly receiving internal FSD training, the KBA still appears to be the biggest obstacle slowing down the rest of Europe. As long as Germany, the EU’s largest automotive market, continues to delay or hesitate, the rollout across the major European countries will remain frustratingly slow. It feels as though the KBA is doing everything it can to give the German automotive industry time to catch up, while Tesla has had the technology ready for years. Do you think the KBA’s hesitation is primarily about protecting Germany’s automotive industry, including Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes, or is it simply a matter of being so concerned about liability that they would rather delay any AI-driven system they don’t fully understand?

@BenGeskin C’est le gros problème de Tesla, sa navigation native est ancienne et ne prend donc pas en compte tous les travaux et autres. C’est super frustrant de devoir ajouter à chaque déplacement son téléphone avec Waze ou Google Maps dessus…

EXCLUSIVE: XPENG has partnered with Google Maps to bring a completely new native navigation experience to its vehicles outside China. The new XPENG L03 will be the first vehicle from an APAC automaker to ship with Google Maps Auto SDK, combining Google's mapping technology with XPENG's own in-car interface and software. The integration will also provide map data for XPENG's NGP (VLA 2.0) and XPILOT ASSIST, helping support the company's global rollout of advanced driver assistance features. This is a major step for XPENG's international expansion and makes the ownership experience even better for drivers outside China. @XPENG_Global @Google @googlemaps

I miss seeing Elon’s velocity trained on Tesla’s operations. Back in the day, Elon’s focus on a given area in Tesla’s ops pretty much guaranteed speed and throughput. He went founder mode on Model 3 manufacturing, Autopilot development, and Giga Austin buildout. But then… Twitter, war with the Left, xAI, SpaceX. I could go on but don’t want to trigger TSLA investors. Elon going founder mode on Tesla today would look like insanely intense Robotaxi rollout, non-stop talk about the need for FSD approval globally, FSD v14 Lite wide distribution immediately, Cybercab operation today. We are clearly missing this.

@tpgoebel Yes, it’s all very sad. Very few people can still afford a subscription for 99€. They then have to go without the security. 😢😢

Tobias Goebel (Unsupervised)
By the way... should FSD Supervised indeed come to Germany*, Tesla would likely kill the free "autopilot" functionality currently included; in particular, the lane assist. New cars would then only feature Traffic-Aware Cruise Control (TACC), and the basic safety measures mandatory for every new car in the EU. For anything else, you would need to subscribe to FSD for €99/month. (*see the signal's we're seeing in my quoted post; the only thing that changed since yesterday is that FSD demo rides have been extended by 15 days: x.com/tpgoebel/statu…)
Tobias Goebel (Unsupervised)@tpgoebel

My top 5 signals why Tesla FSD Supervised might indeed be coming to Germany any day now, in growing order of significance: 1️⃣ FSD Demo rides end on July 15: - tesla.com/de_de/events/f… 2️⃣ Multiple sources report active FSD training for sales & service staff, with local staff officially staying silent, but apparently reacting with telling body language: - x.com/TSLATHOMAS/sta… - x.com/TeslaDE195932/… - x.com/Sim_Bep/status… 3️⃣ German authority KBA (functional equivalent to US NHTSA) published in slightly ambiguous language on July 8: "[...] The KBA continues to review both the documents and the national acceptance of the RDW's provisional EU type approval [...]" (translated from the original German) - fragdenstaat.de/anfrage/anfrag… (I have a standing request into the KBA to report more detailed information - something I have the right to as a German citizen: fragdenstaat.de/anfrage/antrag…) 4️⃣ A German member of parliament who also sits on the federal traffic committee usually answers ALL questions posed on citizen journalism page "Abgeordnetenwatch" on the day they were posted, but chooses to stay silent on the one question about FSD: - abgeordnetenwatch.de/profile/christ… 5️⃣ German Deputy Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Traffic, Christian Hirte, responds to a citizen request on Instagram whether one of his posts on the government's growth measures on autonomes driving meant that FSD Supervised might get approved in Germany: "Yes, something will be coming here this month 😉" (translated from the original German) - instagram.com/p/DaTEOeCCMqe/ You draw your own conclusions from this collection. I am also covering these and more on my latest TeslaTobi video Note: While I had been skeptical about (5) being about FSD Supervised (L2) vs FSD Unsupervised and robotaxis (L4) - since the latter is part of a big government push in the EU and in Germany -, I must admit that in the context of the new evidence, Mr. Hirte might indeed have meant the acceptance of RDW's provisional approval from April.

Horrible first impression v14.3.5 on my 2025 Tesla Model 3 LR RWD Premium 😭 3 terrible parking jobs in 23 min including parking on a ramp in a business park & parking perpendicular out in the road on street only parking situation. Wish I had a better drive but I still believe in the future!

One new feature in Tesla FSD V14.3.5 is you can now open Camera Preview at any time, even if your Tesla is driving. This includes the interior cabin camera, so if you want to keep a better eye on your kids while you drive, you now can.
