@jonathankonen10 I don’t think we’re gonna have a choice. They are all leaving anyways. ALL of them. Some of them demanding more money than their performance last year warranted, some pissed they never got a chance this year. Or at least that’s what is being anticipated from what I’ve heard.

Good news in my mind. Would not have been ideal to be competing with UNC this job cycle for the top available candidate anyways. Now let’s get to work cleaning house on this year’s roster and bring in dudes that want to play Bill Self style basketball — tough & unselfish. #RCJH

There is little incentive to go to a Kansas or a UNC in the modern era of college basketball for coaches, imo. Unless you want to build portal super teams every year under intense pressure, you’re more likely to have the runway and ability to develop a consistently successful program at a non-Blue Blood. I think this is part of the reason why McCollum was so quick to respond to my question the other day and say he WILL be back with Iowa next year.

@BreakthruBball Definitely worth introducing not very effective if spacing is bad. If defense can go under everytime it’s hard to gain advantage. The threat of fading zoom makes defense go over on good shooters. 12-14 typically can’t shoot it well enough

ZOOM ACTION QUESTION! If you're coaching 12-14 year olds, do you think the zoom action should be a staple of the offensive concepts to teach since it's so prevalent in basketball now? The mindset is to prepare them for the next level of basketball. Historically, I've stuck to cutting, screening, spacing, and dribble penetration reactions. Right now, with 12 year olds, I simplified it and just focused on spacing and cutting for right now... with some light work with screening and dribble penetration movements. But I do plan to progress over the next couple of years.
