@calebnoble08 @kyler416 Then you point out how hard hit he was the inning before and was topping out at 89….

I once again maintain that Chaim deserves a lot of blame for not making enough bullpen moves this year. I get it’s a dev. Year but there is practically no such thing as. Long term bullpen arms. I’m sorry but they have like 3 guys who should have been DFA’d already.

Ryne StaneK in a 2 run game was always a huge risk.

@flynavy73 @kyler416 Late first round picks in baseball just don’t often reach the outcomes that some people expect. Carlson is a nuetral to positive outcome for a late first rounder

@jonmberra @kyler416 The trouble is; How many times did we witness the same thing before Walker. Carlson being the most recent. Cardinal had a history of failing to develop 1st round picks.

For anyone still wondering if this Jordan Walker breakout is legit, we have not seen Jordan go to the opposite field with authority since his rookie year, and even then it was just for singles He’s had MULTIPLE hard hit homers to the opposite field and he’s staying on the ball

@calebnoble08 It’s very easy to see why the A’s had the most wind affected fly balls in the majors last year.

Victor Scott every once in a while puts a swing on ball that makes you think he can hit enough.

@tangotiger @StatsGuru Yeah that was the part I couldn’t really get was 5 top 15 pitchers that were in year 3 or less, but that was by fWAR not game score.

@jonmberra @StatsGuru Good call... Lincecum, Jered Weaver, Josh Johnson, Greinke, Price... just gotta figure out which season qualifies for the "within 3 years"... Verlander/Felix started in 2005, so which pitchers were doing well by end of 2007?

Paul Skenes is on cusp of taking over #1 spot from Skubal I dont remember the last time we had so many young pitchers bursting onto the scene within a year or two of each other Maybe @StatsGuru can tell us: most pitchers in top 20, max 3 MLB seasons? baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/we…

I think the only 2 starters that you could argue might have thrown this hard at times are Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson, and they certainly didn’t sit at this velocity. Misiorowski is a generational talent if his arm holds up at all.
Mike Petriello@mike_petriello

Jacob Misiorowski has thrown 39% of his fastballs (4sm/sinker) at 100 MPH+ in his career. MLB SP avg since 2008: 0.1% Next-highest non-opener SP rate: H. Greene, 17%, B. Chandler 14%. No one else over 10. Pretty likely we're seeing the hardest-throwing SP ever, right now.

During the expansion era (1961-present) the #STLCards have had a hitter take 115 or more plate appearances in a season a total of 877 times. Of the 877, Victor Scott II ranks No. 867 with his current 38 OPS (which is 62% below league average offensively.)

@IamScottSinger1 He was throwing every thing down and away N.A. didn’t once try to get a fastball up and out of the zone. I thought it was more sliders than it was but the game plan was still bad.

@jonmberra Is this on the grand slam? I recall Libby did throw a 96 MPH fastball to Kurtz deep in that AB. Kurtz fouled it off deep to LF (so late but not by much at all and I think Libby knew he was screwed at this point)

@NoSleepTilYavin iberatore got hit hard but he was actually missing bats pretty well. 13 whiffs on 43 swings is pretty good. I think the hard contact is just the result of a great A’s lineup and some count predictably.

Honestly expected this game to be a loss and I don’t mind losing. Just sucks to see them fail when I think they weren’t put in positions to succeed tonight.
