@SpeedWatkins For me it always comes back to “salvation from what?” A perfect being would be able to create virtuous creatures and would prefer doing so over creating less virtuous creatures. In a universe created by a perfect God populated by virtuous creatures, what would there be to fear?
English

@SpeedWatkins @dan_djsr What would people created by a perfectly good God need to be saved from?
English

@dan_djsr A perfectly good God always does what is optimally best. Saving everyone, if possible, is optimally better than only saving some. Therefore, if possible, a perfectly good God saves everyone and not just some.

You'll have to prove the claim that perfect goodness requires universal salvation.

If God is perfectly good, He would desire to save everyone. If He is all-powerful, He would be able to do so. If both are true, everyone would be saved. Since not everyone is saved, either God lacks power, lacks goodness, or does not exist. Choose wisely.

@LonghornJoker Can you really be a materialist and not an atheist?
English

Atheism and materialism are not synonymous. You can be an atheist and not a materialist and a materialist but not an atheist.
Jakob Ziguras@noonessleep
There is an important sense in which materialism and atheism can tend to insulate their adherents from the insights necessary to see beyond these positions, because they shape mental habits that incline people to look for the wrong sort of counter-evidence.
