Codex is insane! 🤯 Used the same chat for well over 20 hours. Multiple topics, shelved things, worked on others. Now got back to yesterdays topic. Asked if it still remembers and whether I should start a new session. Nope -- it still had all details. And it wants me to stay in the same chat. No quality degradation at all. Coming from Claude this is just: wow! 😅

@nicksdot @wesbos I mean, yeah, but it's very simple compared to what's built-in elsewhere, like Firefox. Syntax highlight, folding, clickable links etc. So I don't think these extensions are completely useless, if you're looking for those features. 🤷‍♂️

Valve has implemented a new feature for Early Access games on Steam. Developers can now set a planned 1.0 release date using a date picker in the Early Access tab of the Edit Store Page tools. Once saved and published, this date displays on the store page in the Early Access section and adds the transition to users' personal Steam calendars for upcoming games. Valve recommends using it only when reasonably confident to maintain player trust.

I've scrolled through tons of Laravel + Inertia projects, and almost everyone uses Inertia::render(). But did you know there's an alternative? The inertia() helper does exactly the same thing, just way shorter :). Super handy in controllers! Same result, less noise :).

@simonswiss Sorry to hear that Simon. I am interested to know how AI took your position — can you elaborate on that? I am aware AI has come far, but it can't teach the same way a human can (IMO).

@PovilasKorop @itsdevdaniel I think you're waaay too optimistic, it's likely 4.x. 4 has the same error page: github.com/laravel/framew… Further, the session cookie is unencrypted, encryption was added in 5.0, and was default. Then csrf, 40-char token is used, which was 4.x until 5.6

@jaydrogers But Spin automates a lot of things for you? Yes it reduces the learning curve, by simply not putting work in the users hands. I meant learning curve as in understanding how to write Dockerfiles etc. for my specific needs. 😉

@jaydrogers Care to elaborate on that? How would tools help me learn/understand Docker, without using prebuilt images "that just works"? Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything that will magically save my peanut-brain when it comes to Docker and writing Dockerfiles/compose.

@jorqensen That's definitely a good point. Good news is it's gotten much easier since its original release! There's so many tools out there to help reduce the learning curve.

I stick with what works. If you see me switching, it means something. After using PHPStorm forever, I just downloaded VS Code. What are the must have plugins I need install first?

@nicksdot @ganyicz I'd argue the PHP extension by DEVSENSE is better in terms of features and development. However the features worth your time are paid and under a subscription. If you're serious about PHP in VSC though, it's worth it. There's a free trial you can check out.

Follow-up, since Laravel people keep asking "Why core PHP"? 1. Framework Bootstrapping & Routing Why it’s slower: Every request in Laravel must bootstrap the entire framework - load service providers, configuration, middleware... before even dispatching your route.
