@TheGeneral1890 My grandmother requesting and getting a meeting with Gerry Adams because masked men were in her garden every night. Turned out to be a massive brain tumor, but he took the meeting!

Oh you love Ireland and St. Patrick’s day? What was your favourite act carried out by the Provisional IRA between 1969 - 1997?

@Naijagist02 Polite reminder that in the UK Anyone can ask the Attorney General’s Office to review such cases within 28 days of sentencing. If deemed unduly lenient, the case may be referred to the Court of Appeal for a potential increase.

🚨🚨 An 18-year-old TikToker who caused a crash that killed two of her friends has been sentenced to just 14 months in detention, meaning she could be released after only seven months. Madeleine Lonsdale admitted two counts of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving at Lincoln Crown Court, after a high-speed crash that claimed the lives of Harrison Carter and George Stephenson. Prosecutors told the court that in the early hours of the morning, Lonsdale had set off with the two teenagers as passengers in her Kia Niro, heading toward an Esso petrol station off the A1 road in the United Kingdom. Another teenage friend was driving a separate car behind them. According to prosecutor Steven Taylor, the two drivers decided to see how fast their cars could go and effectively began racing each other. At one point, both vehicles briefly reached speeds of around 100mph on the A1. After turning onto a rural country road, Lonsdale accelerated again. The court heard her car reached 76mph on the unlit road, which had a 60mph speed limit and warning signs for an approaching bend. Moments later, she failed to negotiate a right-hand turn on Toll Bar Road. Investigators said she misjudged the distance to the bend and did not slow down before entering it. The car crashed into a tree and landed on its side. Harrison Carter, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, and George Stephenson, seated behind him, both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Lonsdale escaped the crash with only a minor wrist injury, while the car behind managed to avoid the collision. During sentencing, the victims’ families described the devastating impact of the crash and criticized Lonsdale’s behavior afterward. Harrison’s mother, Sarah Carter, told the court that her son had just completed his A-levels and dreamed of becoming a lawyer. “Harry was taken from us because Madeleine chose to speed,” she said. “He will never be able to celebrate the amazing exam results he achieved.” George’s mother, Victoria Stephenson, said the family had been robbed of every milestone they expected to see in their son’s future. “We will never see him graduate or find a job after university,” she said. “We didn’t get to celebrate his 18th birthday with him, instead we had his funeral.” The families also told the court they felt further pain from Lonsdale’s actions after the crash. While they were grieving and preparing their sons’ funerals, she was reportedly posting choreographed TikTok videos online. They also said she went on a skiing trip that delayed her first court appearance by two weeks, which they described as adding “insult to injury.” Defending Lonsdale, John McNally told the court that the teenager continues to think about her friends and the consequences of that night. Judge at Lincoln Crown Court sentenced Lonsdale to 14 months in detention and banned her from driving for three years. Because of sentencing rules, she could be released after serving half of that time, around seven months. For the families of Harrison Carter and George Stephenson, however, the consequences of that night will last a lifetime.

@coffndrop Pitch: an hour long whodunnit show, but the mystery is solved in the first 7 minutes. The remaining 53 is just the protagonist stuck on the Clifton flyover with an underwhelming saxophone break on the blaupunkt

@josephpickard it sounds like a detective show, blending elements of heartbeat and last of the summer wine, about an old codger from east leake who is unwittingly drawn into a series of village mysteries. also, he drives a mini metro.
