There are some Essendon players right now whose careers are literally hanging by a thread. Yes, the club needs better development, and I've been banging that drum for a long time. But there's also a large group of senior players who, quite simply, seem content just being AFL footballers. Well, guess what? That won't cut it for much longer! If you're not prepared to work your absolute ass off this off-season and do everything possible to improve, whether it's hiring a sprint coach, putting in extra gym sessions, refining your skills, or taking advantage of every resource available, you'll be out of the system before you know it. Leave no stone unturned! For too long we've had players who simply haven't cared enough or done enough to maximise their talent. The old saying, the harder you work, the luckier you become, has never rung truer. Some blokes might need to spend a little less time overseas this off-season and a little more time doing the hard work.
