The 2023 CAA Departing Passenger Survey allows us to muse on the mix of passengers at major UK airports by broad trip purpose and whether the passenger was a UK or foreign resident. The importance of business trips at LCY (44% share) and foreign passengers at LHR (54%) is clear.

Bad luck, Hastings, and other seaside resorts hoping to attract back French school groups.
The new government looks set to double down on the Brexit ban on ID cards and make it impossible for school groups to travel here without passports from April 2025.
