@khrisody @janiscarr Optics huge here and good for Clipper imo. Today is #2 timeslot drop for the news to bury it. #1 is right NBA draft. As Draft news will consume outcry re NBA decision.

If they have an answer coming Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday after the draft, then I'd find it hard to believe they don't already have it now. The NBA is doing exactly what Adam Silver said he didn't want to do: holding a team hostage. And that's exactly what's happening. I thought maybe Joe Sanberg buried the league in paperwork and threw the investigation for a loop. But Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz reportedly said Sanberg provided information that was consistent with what they already had. So yeah, I don't like the optics here.

@BillyReinhardt @Clipper_Revival I think Wagler’s the one. How would he shine in clips? Backup PG where he can control offense, or as a 2 next to garland? I like him leading 2nd unit + gaining confidence there? He said goal this summer is to gain weight. One thing, his small hands give me pause. He’s still him.

It might come across like Keaton Wagler propaganda but I’ve just rarely been convicted about a prospect as much as I am with him. • Positional size with tons of physical maturity left to go • High level three point shooter • Strong shot profile and FTr, puts pressure on rim • Low TO, controls possessions • Good to very good creator • Neutral defender but smart team defender • Strong character, competitive, chip on his shoulder • Limited access/research on his background, family, and upbringing checks out positively This an elite, elite prospect. A late bloomer who is only scratching the surface. Teams should be jumping over each other in attempt to trade up to #5 to select him.

@T_bleek But if the goal is championship, and the way to get there involves beating the best team in your conference, then making the best team THAT much better is kinda not how u get to the goal. Knee capping ourselves

@joyballknower All good. I’d rather go this route instead of sitting in this purgatory of mediocrity. I also think by going this route you would have some cap space going into next offseason with a nice young core and can add some vets to make you a solid team again quick with potential to grow

@joyballknower I’m not following what you’re saying. Next year OKC has the rights to swap picks with the Clippers, my path involves them dropping that swap for next year so the Clippers control their own first rounder and can fully reset

@T_bleek Next year OKC will get a lottery pick (possibly #1), and Jaylen Williams back, and this path of yours will have been for nill

Now we have 3 picks in the top 17 in a good draft. We control our first next year, so you can let the young guys play and see what you got. Have a bad year, but have your pick, add a top end talent for next year and now you have a young core and future to look forward to.

@khrisody @rickypramos People are also discounting winner mentality under pressure. Kid is a winner. Also won 2 b2b State championships. Went into 4th ranked Purdue in the NCAA tourney, dropped 46, and took an already over-performing 11th ranked team and took them to the Final 4.

I've never seen a 6'6" guard with that kind of range, playmaking, craftiness, and rebounding get dragged this much just because he's not an elite athlete. I'm not even advocating for taking him. I'm just saying I can easily see a world where he ends up being the best guard in this draft.

Keaton Wagler has been consistently mocked around No. 5 on most draft boards. You don't have to love the fit for the Clippers, but acting like he has no ceiling or isn't a legit prospect is just nonsense.

Take this as speculation and nothing else There's some rumbling the league may wait until Friday to release the Aspiration findings. A Friday news dump is typically reserved for stories you don't want dominating the news cycle. If that's the route the NBA takes, some will view it as a sign the Clippers avoided major penalties. We'll see soon enough.

I got the trade news some of y'all have been waiting for. Heard today that the Clippers have some interest in Bobby Portis in a deal centered around Bogdan Bogdanović's expiring contract. The idea would be for the Clippers to pick up Bogi's option, move the expiring deal, and potentially receive an asset back for taking on Portis' contract. Portis could serve as a lower-cost replacement for John Collins while still giving the Clippers frontcourt scoring, rebounding, and toughness.

Word around the league is the Clippers ain't really been talking to anybody about jumping in as a third team on trades. Right now, all eyes are on the NBA finally dropping the outcome of this investigation. A lot of folks thought we'd get the news Thursday night, but that obviously didn't happen. Until the league quits dragging its feet and gives an answer, don't expect the Clippers to be making a bunch of moves.

@213_LFC @khrisody Wouldn’t be DG, would be Mathurin. Basically, traded Zu for Jaylen Brown and Isaiah Jackson. We win that trade. Next summer, can get 2 firsts and young asset for Brown. Can move Kawhi too to a win-now team. I assume we keep the pick. But let’s not be so horny for it

@Otheryanmurphy An actual realistic outcome is: - Mikel Brown is too skinny, back issues are real and he plays 40 games. - We don’t make playoffs, OKC gets a top 3 pick on top of Yaxel this summer. Jaylen Brown is underrated imo at this point. He put the Celtics on his back to the 2 seed.

@joyballknower I think the angle of getting the 5th pick is getting a solid player under cheap team control for 2-4 years. That helps you build around a core. I get what you’re saying in terms of trading guys when their value is higher.
