@DThompsonDev I've always thought coding is a craft. A mix of art and science. Like carpentry, metalworking, or plumbing. We learn through apprenticeship to grow our proficiency in reproducing patterns and synthesizing new ones 🔰

Do you, and if so, in what ways do you think coding can be considered an art rather than a science?

tech bros like the roman empire because they think they're building the modern day version of it via their b2b saas companies

@madiepatience I hope you reconsider this someday if you have the interest! All programming is fundamentally the same. At a high level theres a different scale, different concerns and output. But if you can write a statement in one context you can write it in any context in time

@ShawnaStaffReal People will often say "wow, good on you", but that's sort of like when people compliment me for taking care of my child. Bonus points for men are expectations for women. That said, I do think it's a good thing to do, and more people should

@ShawnaStaffReal My "maiden" name was Lynch and I disliked it for it's other denotation and for personal reasons. My wife was against changing her name, and I didn't want a hyphenated name for our kids. Just made sense in a completely non-gendered way

@TechSquidTV Of course, not an answer for everyone and you definitely have to listen to your body when it comes to ergonomics

I'm forever searching for a large METAL gaming mouse. My only major complaint of my very old existing Logitech mouse is the plastic has smoothed. Over time, most plastics will smooth expect for maybe PBT. Need something repairable, upgradeable, etc.

@TechSquidTV Not an answer to your request, but in my experience this is definitely an issue with mice, but less so with trackballs, as your hand doesn't move much. I've used trackballs for years without any wear and tear

Here is my tweet sized requests for a perfect mouse. 1. Repairable / Upgradable 2. Properly fits in your hand/palm 3. USB-C w/ Wireless 4. Durable metal body 5. At least 4 buttons 6. DPI switch We can play with tech specifics like polling rates etc.

@nerajno @ladyleet @marktnoonan @AbbeyPerini @xirclebox As Rumi said: This code is a reservation app. Every line a new arrival. An error, a misspalling, bad; syntax, an exception comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and debug them all. Even if they're a mass of red squiggles, … Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond

@CityCoderUS You can have some independence in the cloud through abstraction. Kubernetes for orchestration, or other frameworks that abstract providers, allowing you to move with less friction (though not without risk). There are always dependencies, so there's no true freedom in the matrix🕵️‍♂️

I know the trend is to move to server-less and cloud hosting everything! But What are your thoughts on tech independence? What does it mean? Is it worth the hassle? Its benefits? Cost! Security, ownership… I am diving in!
