@JoeyBrainstorm Maybe more of an indictment on the Rudy trade. Would have liked the wolves with KAT, ANT, and OG instead of Rudy this year (should have gone after him instead of Rudy back when we went all in)

The KAT trade is not one of the worst trades in NBA history. They may not have been able to sign Naz Reid, whose per-36 minutes stats almost mirrored KAT’s when they played together, if they had kept Towns. And if DiVincenzo’s Achilles didn’t snap, the panic about depth next season would be as strong. Julius Randle flaked after the trade deadline. That’s true, but it doesn’t represent the totality of the trade. Let Naz cook as a starter before casting final judgment.

@TrueHoop This exactly fits my assessment of the Knicks, Brunson, and Towns. The only thing I expected was for OG to be more highly rated.

@JaceFrederick Some borderline foul calls on KAT early may have swung game, but other than that the refs are totally favoring the Knicks. (Falling for the Brunson flops)

Watched the half off Twitter (highly recommend) Open app, see like 20 tweets about how it’s rigged for the spurs In a 27 point game In which the free throw disparity is 23-6 Knicks ( I know, I know, total DOESNT TELL THE STORY) Seems like it’s “refs” every game for folks

@TimBontemps KAT getting his MN days whistle tonight…both of his first two fouls were soft.

I think this is going to be a second foul on Karl-Anthony Towns, which will also take a basket off the board, 65 seconds into the game. Pretty massive challenge from San Antonio here.

@Rachel__Nichols Brunson has not been good this series. That turnover with 5 min left was horrible. Knicks so much better when he isn’t ball hogging…

@JonKrawczynski @Kgformvp211 Best pod ever! Thanks for spreading the (deserved) KAT love to a national audience. I still can’t believe Brunson is getting more credit than KAT…

@JonKrawczynski Brunson will make 1 or 2 shots down the stretch and get the credit for the W despite being a negative player the whole game…

This lineup is now +12 in seven minutes. It's a 12-point Knick lead with 6:40 to go.
Tim Bontemps@TimBontemps

Per the great @StatsWilliams (who I get the great fortune of watching this game with today): The Knicks starters with Landry Shamet in for Josh Hart are +9 in four minutes tonight.

@PhilMackey ANT becoming a star may have also played a role? Not just addition of Gobert? Seems we added Gobert, KAT got hurt, we were not very good, KAT came back the next year and we were in WCF…

The Wolves had KAT "over that bum" for years and didn't advance in the playoffs once. Then "that bum" came along, turned the Wolves into one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, and won 5 playoff series. Happy to relitigate the KAT era, but not if people are going to argue in bad faith...
Peter Nelson@PeteHausen

@PhilMackey Rudy gobert averaged 6 points vs the spurs this year. I'd take KAT every time over that bum.

The Thunder just always have someone on the outskirts of the rotation who not only stays ready, but comes in and plays within himself to help the team in a big spot. It really is extraordinary.
Brandon Rahbar@BrandonRahbar

Shout out to Kenrich Williams. Out of the playoff rotation because of OKC's depth. Jumps in with JDub and Ajay Mitchell out in the Thunder's biggest game of the season. Kenny Hustle scores 8 points on 3-3 shooting including 2-2 from 3 and brought his trademark energy and D.

Brunson and Shai are the 2 best maestros in the NBA right now. Would be fitting to see such a finals matchup When the right play is there, Brunson made it. When nothing is there, he creates a good shot out of thin air (and makes it) The east stinks, yes, but he’s incredible

@ChristopherHine I did get the Kevin Love for andrew Wiggins one right. I even wanted LeBron to lose in the finals the year before, so he’d go back to Cleveland and we could get the #1 pick for Love (so I’m 1/100+ on predicting trades)

Think the Wolves have eventually bumped up against the same issues for the past 2 (maybe even 3) playoff runs. Teams get super aggressive with Ant coverages, their second option isn’t good enough to loosen it individually or play off it, and Gobert becomes a complete non-threat.

Just watched the 12 blocks again… you’d have a pretty tough time getting to 4 goaltends (No one send the Harrison Barnes block that was correctly attributed to Harrison Barnes and doesn’t count toward Wembanyama’s 12)
